2. I read somewhere
That they gave everyone T-shirts for the walk. Don't know how many people showed up.

Question: did our taxpayer dollars pay for the t-shirts?

4. They had sponsors including AOL and McDonald's and Subway restaurants

Richard Myers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was in the crowd. I asked him who was paying for the whole thing. "I think it is the sponsors on the back of this T-shirt," he said, referring to the Freedom Walk shirts. The back of the shirts listed Clint Black (presumably not a sponsor), McDonalds, the Pentagon Channel, Stars and Stripes, Lockheed Martin, The Washington Times, Subway Restaurants, America Online, local radio stations, and others.

11. Nice to know that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff...
can't (or won't) answer definitively as to who paid for the big event.

7. I just watched the local DC news...
and they claim 17,000 participated. Mostly shiny, happy white people. They did manage to interview what seemed like the one and only African-American woman -- her husband is active duty. Red, white, and blue as far as the eye could see. All I could think was those poor kids - getting brainwashed at such a young age. Well, that and picking out the college-age marchers and wondering why their a$$es aren't over in I-raq fighting the good fight...

8. Clint Black bit the head off of a live bat on stage.

No, he probably didn't.

But he should have.

9. a few observations
I watched the Rev. Mykeru video (link on americablog.com thread) and also half of the CSpan one. If I'd only watched the CSpan, I would definitely think these were employees told they had to attend. They all shuffle along with no spirit, kind of like one does when told to work extra hours at no extra pay.

There is not a single handmade sign in the crowd. Not one. There are a few printed up ones that all look alike and not many of them. I thought one said "Agriculture." I wonder if that was so all of the employees in the Agriculture Dept who were told they had to attend could go do their face time with others in the department.

The Rev. Mykeru video is pretty good for having been shot and put up on the Web after only a short time. In this video, he interviews a few of the people in the walk and from that, I think there were some "true believers" at the walk. One was a typical knuckle-dragger freep who could barely comprehend the questions the Rev was asking. Another one had an attitude and claimed he was in the service already.

It's definitely odd that they were all dressed alike. Imagine trying to distribute T-shirt for everyone to wear for the 9/24 antiwar march in DC. A logistical nightmare. This alone tells me that most of these people are employees.

10. Lots of black folks on news, ZERO arial shots of the "crowd"
so it must have been damn sad. None of the shots I saw on the 6 o'clock local news (Sacremento) showed more than 30 people. Funny thing, almost half of the faces on tv were black and more than half were women.

Since when do black folks and women march to support a war?

Catapulting the Bullshit once more.

14. Some 'patriots' got more
exercise than they have thus far all year.

Always a good thing...whatever it takes to get Amerika in shape, right?

Oh, that's right -- the neocons want them fat and happy.
