Has anyone seen "The Seventies"
I needed some downtime tonight...watched it. I forgot how great it was.
I miss the seventies.
It highlighted Kent State, Watergate, Vietnam War, ERA Movement, Black Panthers, Exxon Valdez spill, the Nixon years, the Carter years....
Had some great music.
Lots of protestors, lots of protest, lots of Peace signs.
This was awesome.
Highly recommended to get you in the mood for September 24!

1. Valdez was in '89
I saw it a while ago and thought it was good. They also had the 60's which focused more on protests.

3. Excellent doc.
What I really loved about it was that it was "my decade". Personally, it started with me in 1970 as a 12 year-old Neil Young wannabe (complete with stringy long hair, patched Levis and tasseled suede jacket), and ending in 1980 as a 22 year-old raging existential punk studying film at art school.

I actively lived through all of the contents of "The Seventies", with LOT'S of formative life in between. My favourite, most important personal memories? Having American draft dodgers for high school teachers (I still see some of them socially), and watching Nixon resign in a dingy, sleazy Vancouver dive bar, the only bar in town that would serve 16 year-olds. (Seeing Dick bite the dust on TV in a skid row bar was just so...apt!).
