I've got to stay away from the news... |
|
I keep looking for signs of hope - how bad is the contamination, when can we go back, did the Saints win (yes!)? And everywhere but DU, truthout.org and similar places where there's truth and really no spin, I see photo-ops and lies. shrub goes three times to my city to save his image, and I can't even find out if my house is still standing. Blanco gets ripped (except by Jindal, who at least was man enough - human enough, might be better - to give her credit) while doing everything right. Nagin gets ripped. And even Pelosi and Reid side-step the brunt truth.
Facts. Facts. Facts. Before, during and after. The so-called "news" media look for angles instead of facts. There's toxic mold in the water and there's a toxic mold walking the streets and I hope they meet.
Forget the labels, forget the so-called philosophies -and look at the deeds!

1. Sorry about you (hopefully not)loss |
|
of the house. Sounds like it has been hell. It sucks the way eveyone is making Blanco out to be the culprit--looks like even Nagin had to jump on board the Blanco-bashing to save his ass & city. I am witholding judgement from both of them no matter what they say at the moment; because I am sure there is alot of political juggling that has to go on to get what they need from fuck-up FEMA and Bushco. Nuts.......

2. Garthranzz, I am so sorry. |

We've driven away in tears and tried to tell ourselves that we'd deal with it somehow if we returned to find our house and neighborhood gone. The agony of uncertainty is difficult beyond words. We've been blessed somehow by near-misses and only suffered through needing to reshingle, the loss of a couple trees, and some flooding over the years.
I'm so glad you're ok, and hope the same can be said for everyone you know and love. Right now, all I can offer is to add my hope that your home and your neighborhood have survived the storm.
The master of disaster will continue to strut and pretend to lead, the spinners will continue to try to spin, but I honestly don't think they can wash away the stench of their failure this time. Too much has been lost.
The Saints? what's that? a football team or something? ;)

My family and friends, thank G-d, are safe. But so many for New Orleans are not. I'm inconvenienced (I love the electron inconvenienced tagline), but will be able to recover financially. I'm not worried about my future. But so many have lost so much, and needlesly so.
I'm angry at the toxic mold in the White House that was and remains indifferent to the needs of the people. He's irresponsible and no one is holding him to account. New Orleans will recover, as it has before. But there must be accountability.

4. Got angry with someone a couple of days ago |
|
who called it the 'blame game'. But it's not.
It's not a game, and it's a matter of accountability, not blame.
About the anger, sometimes I feel like one of those Russian nesting dolls - anger inside sadness inside anger - not sure which is at the core.
