Ben Stein Blames Media: "real story is that the mainstream media rioted."
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 08:27 AM by elehhhhna
:puke:

...
What is the real story of Katrina is (I suggest) not so much that nature wrought fury on land, water, people, property, and animals, not at all anything about racism, not much about federal government incompetence. The real story is that the mainstream media rioted.
...
In the meantime, George Bush does not lash out, does not attack those who falsely accuse him of the most horrible acts and neglect. Instead, he doggedly goes on helping the least among us. I don't know how he does it, but we are very lucky he does...

8. Somebody show him tapes of real riots.
And explain that refusing to continue being Rove mouthpieces does NOT constitute rioting.

Then put the poor, mentally incapacitated schmuck into custodial care before he hurts himself.

11. When'll media report truth in the USA?FEMA rules in National Response Plan
seems forgotten.

The December 2004 National Response Plan (NRP), the federal Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) most recent plan for coordinated federal response to disasters http://mediamatters.org/rd?http://www.dhs.gov/interweb/... , confirms the Red Cross' status as a "primary agency" http://mediamatters.org/items/200509090002#establishes
that will, under the oversight of FEMA and DHS, coordinate "federal mass care resources" to affected areas. Moreover, in a "catastrophic event," such as what befell New Orleans, the NRP directs FEMA http://mediamatters.org/items/200509090002#directs
to act on its own authority to quickly provide assistance and conduct emergency operations, bypassing state and local authorities if necessary.

And our uniform media responce is to put "some blame" on local and State officials, and on those workers that fled NO rather than stay at Hospitals or on the police watch as their homes were washed away?

When Knight-Rider, Fox, and the Bush Administration are not singing the same tune, let me know. Till then, our media sucks IMHO.

12. I'm starting to wish Stein would shut up.
It's tiresome to listen to the same fairy tales over and over again. He should go back in time to the 50's and write for Pravda. At least there his "skills" would have been appreciated.

13. What matters is the bad press. Not dead people, lost cities.
Maybe Ben Stein should read what he wrote and understand that it's precisely that attitude that makes America realize that repugs really don't fucking care if we live or die as long as Bush doesn't get blamed.

And how does Bush continue on with this job? Golly, I would say with eight hours of sleep a day combined with the power of an executive with all the resources of the federal government behind him. Yes, it's hard work, I know.

14. We should pay attention to a nobody??
A talkshow host who does eyewash commercials should be taken seriously? A guy who wrote speeches DECADES ago and co-starred in one movie in an expert on what went wrong??

Looking at his credentials one can understand how he concluded that this would not have been a disaster if the media would have kept their damn mouths shut.
