CNN trying to rebuild The Wall, but some reporters not playing along? |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 09:18 AM by Armstead
We ALL want there to be good news from the Gulf Coast. But we can;t allow the media and political spinmeisters to substitute "feelgood" coverage for the rare honesty and no-holds barred coverage the media showed in the immediate aftermath.
It's looking like they aretrying to rebuild The Wall of scripted McNews.
Message: We're making progress in LA. We've turned the corner. Life is getting back to normal. After a slow start, President Bush is overseeing a sucessful recovery.
CNN's robotic anchor (didn't catch his name) seems like he has been given the script for the day. Focus on the positive. We've turned the corner. Bush is actively involved now.
However, he seemed annoyed when a reporter didn't play along. The anchor asked the reporter (slightly paraphrased): "So do you sense that the people on the ground feel that they've turned the corner and are aking back control of the situation?"
The reporter replied (slightly paraphrased): "Not really. People are just looking for any small victories they can celebrate, but this place is still a horrible disaster and there are not many bright spots..."
The anchor seemed annoyed that someone deviated from the script, and quickly went to the next story of a school being reopened.

...spewing bullshit? The ones who never leave the green zone to "report" anything. They just read the script someone in a uniform hands them.

the media is trying to show that things are ok, so that the rest of the nation doesnt wake up and realise that its a monumental failure of government.

The ReThuglican Party is once again attempting to frame the debate as "the BLAME GAME," and repeating the endless mantra that they will not stoop to playing while endlessly trashing NO mayor and LA governor.
Any time any of the boat news anchors weighs in with this SHIT, some one HAS to CALL HIM ON IT!!!
This was ALL Bush's fault. Federal State of Emergency called on 27/08/2005 - this authority supercedes all state and local authority...
Bush fumbled the ball AGAIN, and NOLA residents are paying the price.

...this type of MSM slanted coverage detailing the story, the news personalities, the date, the news agency, etc., is worth doing. I'd like to see these kinds of astute observations organized and maintained on a free website database. Maybe one already exists, if so, please pardon my ignorance and provide the link. Such a collection could become a valuable arsenal with which to challenge MSM. We should be unrelenting in forcing MSM to publicly defend their indefensible conduct. Showing them for what they are will be the only way to diminish their stranglehold of influence over the masses.

Not the legitimate good news, but the exclusive focus on that in order to create an image that everything is AOK.
