There are 3 repuke guys in the cubby next to me. All seem to be gungho NRA gun toting, * supporters. The one really vocal guy (who drives me up a wall) started saying something about the buses not being used to evacuate people, then started saying something about FEMA not being let into Louisiana by the Governor, and about it had to be her fault because look how good Brown did for Florida last year.

The other two turned on him a bit. Not alot, but a bit. They said "Yeah, I guess LAs fault was their governor didn't have a brother in the White House." They also said if you were rich, you could just get in your SUV and drive outta town, but if you were poor and couldn't drive you had nowhere to go unless one of the rich people took pity on them and let them hitch a ride -- Like that would happen". They also set him straight on Brownie's credentials.

YES!!! OK, even though I *STILL* felt like reaching across the divider and slappin' him silly, I am glad someone over there is starting to turn.

It's happening all over, and its like the collapse of a dam. It starts with imperceptible cracks, and then chunks start falling, and then, BOOM!, the whole damn town is under water.

When Bush finally resigns, though, it will be with a whimper of self-pity along with some self-wetting.

3. I agree the collapse is underway, but

don't know about * resigning. That would be the ultimate "I was wrong" moment, and I truly believe he is incapable of even feeling he was wrong, let alone admitting it. Not to say I wouldn't love to see it, but I think he'll have to be drug out kicking and screaming.

I work for a Conservative organization, and us closet Liberals are nearly
toungue-less for all the time we spend biting same.

Last week a funny thing happened: we starting speaking openly of our
contempt for Bush, Arnold S., and of course our anger over Katrina.
For once the Conservative Fox News watchers were cowering in the
corner looking uncomfortable.

9. BTW -- There is a public transit bus system used to evacuate

people before the hurricane arrived...

The people that stayed were people who had been through a lifetimes worth of storms already, they did not see this storm as anything new.

They stayed because they could not conceive of what happened.
