I Want to Know if the WH Brought This 9/11 Display to NOLA --pix->>>

Posting again - how do I find out where this 9/11 Memorial Display came from? I seriously doubt these NYFD firefighters had time to build this display in between rescuing people. I suspect the WH supplied it. Staging photo-ops in a disaster area is one thing. Bringing along stage props to dress the set in the middle of a disaster is beyond outrageous. How can we track this one down? I need to know.

3. Since it doesn't say anything about NOLA . .
. . and is a 9/11 oriented display . . it seems that it was probably made months or even years ago as part of the units PR gear - and brought along on the trip to LA knowing that they might need some kind of a cool backdrop for any press briefings.

Looks like they thought right.

4. Well that's what the WH would want you to think
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 03:07 PM by Stephanie

I am looking for facts. The NYFD is unlikely to cart along a 9/11 memorial that huge on an emergency rescue mission to Louisiana. Seriously. Is there a journalist who can ask this question of the WH or the NYFD?

7. Can somebody call the NYFD and ask them?
I'm not in a location where I can make the call right now - is there anyone with journalist credentials who could call? I found this contact info that might work:

Contact: Francis X. Gribbon and Virginia Lam (FDNY) (718) 999-2056

9. That is a Maltese Cross - traditional symbol of the Fire Department
http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/html/history/maltese_cross.shtml

Origin of the Maltese Cross
The icon that is often synonomous with fire departments worldwide, including the FDNY is known as the Maltese Cross. It's origin dates back hundreds of years, and it is a badge of honor and courage.

14. I'm interested too
I want someone in the media to follow up on that "disaster site stage dressing" that they had behind * on one of his earlier visits, to make it look like he was striding around a bustling repair site.

17. Senator Landrieu called it ...
http://search.campaign.com/democracy/bio/userletter/?letter_id=460548541&content_dir=congressorg

"But perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo pportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment."

19. Firemen were on CBS Evening News and
admitted they were used in a * photo op, so he had live props as well. The firemen were complaining about not being used for firefighting, which is why they were sent by FEMA, or so they thought.
