Glenn Beck calls survivors "scumbags," said he "hates" 9-11 families
Nationally syndicated Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck referred to survivors of Hurricane Katrina who remained in New Orleans as "scumbags."

Also, after acknowledging that nobody "in their right mind is going to say this out loud," Beck attacked victims of the disaster in general and the families of victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, saying: "I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9-11 victims."

I guess in his world, anyone who suffers under Shrub's machinations are "Whiners".
They should just die and be quiet about it.

42. people like to have their beliefs reinforced not challenged
I agree with your post. Some of what he said was probably there to get attention but the rest was defending his world view by attacking the wounded.

When someone's deeply held beliefs are challenged then it can be uncomfortable or even painful to reevaluate the things you base your decisions and self image on. It is easier to just attack it or ignore it. Liberals do it to some degree too, everyone does, but we don't tend to be as bad as conservatives because we are generally considered to be more open minded.

This guy wants to think that the President is a great and capable leader that is making America a better place. The GOP and their media lackeys help with their excuses and diversions every time the President fails at something or succeeds in helping some friend of the administration at the expense of the American people. That is the only play they have left, screw the American people, shift the blame, and lie about it.

To some not so small degree the guy is a blowhard but down at his core he is holding up the strain of defending an ignorant, mean, corrupt, elitist, liar. That is hard to do with a president this bad. In this case he has to look at grieving families and victims of the president's poor leadership and attack them. This isn't for what they did but how they made him feel and all the mental gymnastics he had to do dismiss them and their message.

That doesn't mean I have any sympathy for him but I like an explanation as to why someone can say something so dumb and mean it.

He's of the same mold that Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity are in. That includes our Moron in Chief too. None of them have any military or law enforcement backgrounds. They all avoided service during their respective generation's wars. O'Reilly and Limbaugh avoided Nam, and Hannity and this jerk avoided GF1 (Gulf Farce 1).

It simply amazes me that such "cowards", as you call them, complete chickenhawks, can have such a following and listening audience that actually takes anything they say regarding "service" for this country seriously. They did'nt have the balls to do it themselves, but expect everyone else not to follow in their own foot-steps. Simply amazing.

40. Beck is a vitriolic asshole that spouts off stuff as if he were sitting in
bar w/ 20 drinks under his belt. He is an arrogant jerk that never learned that the act of stating that he is a recovering alcoholic doesn't excuse him from making stupid asinine statements. His whole persona is the 'Recovering Alcoholic, so I know it all', crap. There are tons of these people that run around figuring that since the beat an addiction, they can tell everyone else how to live because they are somehow morally superior. This is a complete crock of shit. Drunk or sober, stoned or straight; if you're an asshole, your an asshole.

I would suppose that Beck has no friends, and probably suffered the bad end of a few bar fights. I've known people like this, and generally speaking...they spout off until someone has enough, and then proceeds to pound the crap out of the offending jerk. He lacks sympathy and therefore will not receive any from me, or most of the people in the nation. He is just another RW shill that spouts off how 'noble' he is, after being an individual that abused not only substances, but his family as well...(this is a self assertion by Beck btw).

He is so filled w/hate for himself, he cannot see the good in others, as it makes him actually see how inadequate he really is.

And also, just like Rushie, he has a failed marriage under his belt.

So, now we have a divorced recovering alcoholic, with no service record such as military. And he's supposed to be somehow morally superior and enlightened over the average Joe out there?

I need to install a toiler closer to the computer room so that when I read this crap I have an immediate place to throw up in.

58. Yes, he was, and here's Answer.com's section on that:
Beck can be controversial. In a May 2005 comedy bit involving what people would do for 50 million dollars, he asked the question, "Would you kill someone for that." He continued by sarcastically joking about killing film maker Michael Moore. Beck said he was "thinking about killing Michael Moore" and pondered whether "I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it," before concluding: "No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?" (Glenn Beck Program May 17, 2005 broadcast)

(I love these last two sentences).

There was no intent to threaten Moore's life, however there was a palpable reaction in the press and left-wing websites that maintained that Moore's life was truly in danger and fed their theories that conservatives are unhinged. The bit provides an example of Beck's sarcastic humor, although some do not find joking about murdering someone to be funny.

Objective, ain't it?
