From the CNN/USAToday/Gallup poll--the actual numbers
CNN made it sound like he was bouncing back--look at the numbers and keep in mind it's Gallup.

(CNN) -- A majority of Americans surveyed disapproved of President Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina, a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll found.

In the survey, conducted September 8-11, 43 percent said they approved of Bush's handling of the crisis, while 54 percent said they disapproved.

Fifty-five percent said President Bush's initial response was poor, while 44 percent said it was good.

Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco had similar numbers -- 32 percent expressed a favorable opinion, 35 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion and 33 percent said that they were unsure.

Thirty-eight percent of respondents said they had a favorable opinion of Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, while 17 percent said their opinion was unfavorable and 45 percent were unsure.

So Gov. Barbour is also being blasted as well---good.

Barber is the type who evokes strong feelings. At a time of crisis like this no one is unsure.

edit to add "was" in title

6. Not odd at all
This is a nation-wide poll.

Do you think you're non-political buddy down the street has any idea who Haley Barbour is?

5. I don't see what your quarrel is with these numbers
Even after Katrina Barbour is a virtual unknown nation-wide, he didn't get half as much press as Blanco and Nagin did.
