Katrina pictures from MS Gulf Coast
I posted some of the pictures I took in Mississippi in a yahoo photo album. The pictures in the Long Beach/Guflport album were taken on Highway 90 in Mississippi (check Mapquest for city/street reference). The church is Saint Thomas Catholic church in Long Beach, which is about 15 feet aabove the level of the Gulf of Mexico. The storm surge was about 25 feet, so the bottom 10-12 feet of the church walls were wiped out, and everything in the church was destroyed and pushed out the back of the building. I was baptized & married in this church.

Pearlington album is from Pearlington MS, which is on Hwy 90 on the MS/LA state line. The interior home pictures in Pearlington is the home of my mother & father in law. It had about 15 feet of water go through it from the storm surge. It's a total loss, will probably have to be gutted down to the frame if not bulldozed.

I have more pictures being developed and will add them to the album when I get them.

2. Thank you, DFWdem.
The thumbprints of some of the pictures look like open land, then the realization hits that there used to be structures there when the pic is enlarged.

The same with the house (your mother and father-in-laws'). Outside picture gives hope. Roof, check. exterior walls, check. windows, check. Interior a stark contrast of destruction. How awful for them, and for all the people in that area.
