Think "Ophelia" is a big nothing? It's sitting there on "Erode & Destroy"
Mission!

It sits there churning and spinning and eroding the beaches on the South East Coast from Northern Florida to Upper NC.

Ophelia spins and acts like our "agitator washing machines" where it "rinses and spins" and "rinses and spins" over and over...as it spirals down from Hurricane to Tropical Storm.

That folks don't see or understand what "Rinse and Repeat" can do...just look at your tax bill to "re-nourish" beaches in the last ten years. Just figure that YOUR STATE will TAX YOU to keep the TOURIST INDUSTRY AND THE "ASSET CLASS" flush with FULL RENTALS...

I love our oceans. I love to be at the Beach and my soul is restored by it and I love that all our kids can go there and see the majesty of our oceans. It's great to try to teach our little kids because THEY are our FUTURE...and to show them who beautiful our ecological system is and hope that they, too, will be "stewards of the land and sea.'

But, its really disgusting to see those "City Bred White Folks" hawking on and on about stuff they know no more than 2 Cents about.

And, I'm a "Whitey/Not Poor AMERICAN WHO IS DISGUSTED OTT! :puke:

1. The first time I heard of beach renourishment I was on vacation
here in Florida (before I moved here) and there was a guy there from Colorado. I mentioned to him that they were missing a bet by not getting federal money to move rocks from the valleys back up onto the mountains where they belonged.

2. Ahhh, like a rinse and hold cycle that never ends!!!
I've been thinking that the only way monkeyboy can stop the slide in the polls is if he does OK helping the Katrina people, and EVERYTHING ELSE GOES RIGHT. Insurgents get tired, gas prices drop, we have a mild winter so people do not get stuck with massive fuel bills...

But if Ophelia causes trouble, it could get very rough for Porgie!

3. Ophelia is knocking at my back door and it appears she'll be aggitating me
on the way to school in the morning. I'm inland, but we still usually get a lot of bad wind and tornadoes from the hurricanes. The area where I live is usually nestled between the hurricane and some high or low pressure (I forget which) that sort of builds tornadoes. I'll still feel some of her breath on my neck in the morning. :scared:

4. I know what you say...I'm inland about 100 Miles and I've been feeling it
since last Friday when it was sitting off Florida. Our winds have been unusual for early September...and it's because Ophelia was sitting and spinning ...sitting and spinning.

Our media doesn't get into the nitty gritty about these storms, for sure. But, for "inland residents" to feel it...means we need to go back to some sort of "on the ground citizens who can recognize Nature's signals and not what comes from the "Weather Channel" as good as they are...they just don't get "acorn droppings" and what those of us who don't watch them can find in our own environment."

6. Exactly. Try telling them that if the insects start coming inside

your home in early September, it means a cold, cold winter is coming early. Or if squirrels and other wildlife start eating a lot frantically, it means bad bad weather is coming. They'll look at you like you are some backwoods hick even though nature tells you what is coming long before they even crawl out of bed to guess what is going to happen next.

8. I don't know...I think WeatherUndergound says Wrightsville Beach, NC
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 08:30 PM by KoKo01
then following up the coast of NC. It's a big storm but it's winds have dropped way down past Hurricane...so lot's of rain and wind, but hopefully not damage.

BTW: Wilmington, NC is where Wrightsville Beach is. Wilminton is at mouth of Cape Fear River and Wrightsville is near that. Just in case anyone cares. :D
