True story: * supporter yelled at us on our street corner . . . .
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 06:22 PM by patrice
He opened his car window while waiting for the light and displayed his pentacle tatoos. My friend asked if he was a Satanist and he said yes, and that this country was founded on lies, and that makes Bush right for this country because he is a liar. I said this country was also founded on genocide and the Satanist-Bush-Supporter said that is right and also the way it should be, and also why Bush is the right guy for the job. I kid you not. He was completely serious. I guess you have to be pretty serious to be tattoed with Pentacles.

I would like to have asked him what he thinks about what happened to the Katrina survivors, but the light changed and he had to drive away.

Harebo!

5. Oh, of course, I do! Another brain fart.
I used to read Tarot a long time ago.

Pentacle$ is the suite representing finances, among other things, which can have the ultimate negative, or inverted, a$pect of Mammon, in some cases I suppose, ergo Satan.

10. Pentagram is a shape
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 06:31 PM by Der Blaue Engel
Pentacle is the symbol itself.

Edited to add: With a circle around it. I guess pentagrams don't have the circle.

4. Hey .......
There are fundamentalist churches - one was covered in this morning's Washington Post - who are thanking God for having cleaned out the sinful city of New Orleans.

I suppose it's just a matter of perspective?

6. My response to those fundamentalist churches:
God did not strike New Orleans to "punish" the sinful. God struck New Orleans to test the mercy and compassion in the hearts of the rest of us.

Not that I believe God had one damn thing to do with it. As if something so mythically powerful would really give a rat's a** about what goes on here on Earth.

7. Pentacles are not evil
Pentagrams aren't evil either, it's just what the "Christians" want you to think.

15. Pentacles inverted = "evil", just like crosses
And "pentacle" and "pentagram" are fairly interchangeable.

34. Not quite as simple as that
Although satinists have co-opted the "upside down" pentagram as their symbol, it is also the sign of the 2nd degree in some blends of Wicca.

18. Not all "Christians"---> just the ignorant, biggoted ones.
This Christian really has better things to do than judge the ways others chose to express or practice a faith. Really. I actually do.

In fact... I'm so busy, it's been a while since I've made it to mass. ;) But seriously, please remember that the fundie-fruitcakes don't represent us all. (I swear they don't.)

My personal opinion, and take it for what it's worth, is that there isn't one way to view anything---> including religion/faith. I think we are all connected on a greater spiritual level. Some feel comfortable connecting in a Christian church. Others in a Mosque (sp?) or a Temple. Others feel the connection through Buddism. And still others feel connected in other ways besides a religion/faith and are agnostic/athiest.

As for the idiot * supporter... well, he's simply not connected at all because he's an idiot! :)

24. Searching
I have been searching the wilds of the Northern Hemisphere for poetry and dreams, love and sensation, a cold beer and perhaps a spliff to ease the pain, ease the pain.

I have been peering into homes late at night, using my night-vision goggles, trying to find a man as righteous as you.

I have been waiting for someone to notice that George W. Bush is still trying to blow himself.

Hiya, rz. How you been?

30. How poetic. I gave up the beer and spliffs twenty years ago
last month finding they caused more pain than they alleviated. I have been generally pissed off and horrified, as I have been most of this new century, but making the most of the fact that I dressed entirely in black the day after the Supremes annointed our fearless leader. Little did I know how right I was to be.

Do you think the tide has finally turned? I dream of the reality-based World taking control of Congress in 2006, then a righteous Congressperson from Tennessee or Massachusetts resigning so that their Governor could appoint Gore or Kerry to fill out their expired term and be elected Speaker of the House, thus assuring that once Bush and Cheney were impeached I could see some future besides a continual shitstorm.

I think Bush is now trying to have himself in the Greek manner, judging from how often he has been showing his ass.

Good to hear from you.

35. Turned?
Well, my stomach turns whenever I see Fuckface's image anywhere. Does that count?

Congratulations on 20 years, my friend. Life's nicer without that stuff, I agree. I think I quit smoking about that long ago, come to think of it, but I can't really recall the exact date. Or year. As for the stuff about beer, well, truly, I rarely imbibe. I was just feeling romantic and, you know, edgy as hell.

Your resignation/appointment/Speaker Of The House scenario sounds like a definite "You're officially insane," but I like it, I like it. I'm thinking more in terms of something like Jonestown at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I'd pay good money - and supply the Kool Aid - to see that happen. Odds are better than the Kool Aid situation will take place for the simple reason that there is still one executive at Halliburton who's not yet a billionaire. Nothing stops until President Cheney takes care of that.

If you didn't see George Carlin on "Real Time With Bill Maher" on HBO the other night, you missed his referring to Barbara Bush as "the silver douche bag." It was a very, very special moment.

Well, if he gave up on trying to blow himself, Fuckface will not probably succeed in getting his head so far up his ass, he'll fart through his mouth.

I have now officially offended myself, and I must sign off.

Good to see you, too........................

36. I don't think my scenario is insane, its the best I can come up with that
that doesn't involve violence and stays within the framework of the Consitutuion. My choice is Gore and then he appoints Kerry as V-P. The Congressperson who has the wisdom to resign gets either Secretary of State or a seat on the Supreme Court. Since the Court will have to be packed to neutralize the post-Bush stench that would be easy. Then we'd have a fourth of the actual election results in 2000 and 2004, more or less. It should be the Democratic platform for the 2006 elections and optional for Repukes who want a snowball's chance of keeping their jobs.

8. Were they upside down pentacles?
Guess it'd be hard to tell on an arm; depends on perspective. But the pentacle is actually a life-affirming pagan/wiccan symbol. It's a shame some people have to pervert and give a bad name to everything good.

16. In Krsna consciousness, what we call "Evil" is an aspect of Reality.
Krsna intervenes sometimes to destroy Evil/demons in order to free humanity, but sometimes He also destroys and then promotes certain demons/evil entities to a closer union with Himself (especially since Krsna is the source and the end of all things, and "evil" is a part of that).

17. Sounds like
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 06:41 PM by jokerman93
That guy sounds like one of those retro-nazi LaVey Satanists. I have a warm place in my heart for those guys. They figure the age of fire is upon us so why not just help it along. I think of that sort of "Satanism' as a kind of broad satirical guerilla theater...

I remember seeing this film years ago: When a pornographer was asked why, as a self-proclaimed revolutionary anarchist, he made pornography instead of being politically active, his response was that he was contributing to the moral decay of a corrupt society and so, in his own way, he was promoting the decline and fall of the power structure. I always loved that character.

(Anyway, it's common knowledge that inverted pentagrams are for whimps. Now...you should see my back piece ;-). You'd love it!)

We're all doing what we can.

Peace
