Wow. I was just watching the news and I heard that firefighters
were told that they had to take a bus to New Orleans and then, when they got there FEMA wouldn't give them any fuel for their trucks on account of they didn't fill out some form or something. Anyone else hear that?

1. There is a lot of firefighter news today; firefighters used as props:
“As specific orders began arriving to the firefighters in Atlanta, a team of 50 Monday morning quickly was ushered onto a flight headed for Louisiana. The crew's first assignment: to stand beside President Bush as he tours devastated areas.” In other words, they were flown to Louisiana for a totally stage managed photo opportunity.

9. But imagine the chaos
if they allowed help in without 14 forms being filled out standing on their left foot with an eye closed after spitting, spinning three times and chanting fema foma fuma under a full moon by the oak tree.

24. Sort of makes FEMA earth-bound Vogons, eh?
Miserable? Bureaucratic? Vicious? Douglas Adams was too gentle a soul to imagine how truly horrible they'd be.

6. Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that a couple of days ago
there was a group who came to volunteer, to help right and they were told to hand out flyers or something. I think that they had been hanging around for a day or two by then and they still were not being put to use...so some of them got tired of waiting and went home. But there was like 50 of them or so that stayed to "walk with Bush" down the road?

bring back the blow job guy...can we? He was great. No war. Thriving economy. Balancing the budget. Actually working for the MAJORITY of Americans. Trying to get us health care in a way that costs the Government less. More and more people going to school, college even. I felt really safe when he was in charge because he could think on his feet and he was smart enough to see two (or even more) sides to an issue and get this, he could even meet with people who disagreed with his ideology and actually hear them, you know, take their questions, think about the questions and ANSWER them. Boy I miss him. He had empathy for ALL people.

I never really got over being so angry at how they treated him. I thought they were really out of line. Not to mention, that they spent wwwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyyy too much taxpayer money without even asking to find out where the first penis was or wasn't. Really kind of pathetic too.

13. You know what really got me though about that whole Clinton
"impeachment" thing was that it wasn't an impeachable offense and they knew that. So what a waste of money. What was it millions, billions? Plus, everyone was so hateful, both the Government officials and the citizens, you know Republicans, the "Christians" I mean really mean spirited and they had NO respect for the office of the President then either.

The whole thing was so juvenile and wasteful. I wonder what else they could have done with all that money?

And, I was shocked that they included it in the broadcast.

21. I went to our city council
meeting tonight because our fire dept. was going to make a statement on Kristina & mutual aid, etc. (This is basically a Republican town). I was thrilled when I heard the Chief mention the 'photo op' and indicate that they were willing and able to go - but not for a photo op. Since my motivation for going to the meeting was to ask them not to go unless they'd be used appropriately,I commended him on 'being in the loop'.

There are a lot more 'eyes wide open' these days - and for that, I'm so grateful.

The Council also decided to send a significant donation to help provide basic uniforms to the NOPD. On Friday, everyone in town is invited to set up in the city park and accept donations. I'll be there to collect whatever I can for Covington, La./VFP/Annie & Buddy Spell.
