Let's Have Fun: What Do DU'ers Think G.A.L.L.U.P. Now Stands For? |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 07:05 PM by David Zephyr
It's now apparent that GALLUP, once a highly respected polling company is now about as impartial as the now discredited Frank Luntz.
In the last weeks, we have seen every major polling concern has squarely put George W. Bush's approval rating at below 40%. Some have ranged as low as 36% before Katrina. Newsweek just yesterday had Bush at only 38% in overall approval.
And yet Gallup is now reporting an "uptick" for Bush and placing him at 45% approval. Ha!
Everyone knows that Gallup is greased by the G.O.P. to push poll and to make opinion rather than report opinion.
So, my fellow DU'ers, what could the acronym G.A.L.L.U.P. now mean?
G A L L U P
Have fun.

His son, who runs the company now, is a self-described fundy Bush partisan. He's up front about it.

GALLUP might be an acronym for:
Great American Liars Launching Unconscionable Propaganda
Alas, I suspect Gallup is right. What we are witnessing is the re-emergence of the race factor: the ugly truth that most white Americans are as viciously racist as ever -- and are beginning to rally to support Bush precisely because they applaud what he has done to blacks and poor of New Orleans. (The inevitably of such a development was surely evident in the astonishing fact only about 20 percent of the white population is honest enough to acknowledge the possibility Bush's non-response was motivated by racism.)
