WP: WH Staffers Suffer Stress, Fees in Facing Grand Jury (oh, brother)
By Sam Coates
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, September 13, 2005; Page A25

Sympathy can be hard to come by for White House officials who are summoned to appear before a grand jury.

Those whose identities remain a secret suffer in silence, discouraged from reaching out to their closest friends for help. Those whose names leak into the public domain become lightning rods for rumor, suspicion and innuendo, as politicians, commentators and journalists try to divine a meaning behind each summons.

The latest White House staffer to face the grand jury is Susan B. Ralston, assistant to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, who gave testimony to the committee investigating the leak of the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

But while the politics of every appearance is picked over in minute detail, there is also a human story to each summons that often goes unexplored........

2. Boo frickin hoo, Ms. Ralston
What's that old saying? Something about "lying down with dogs"...

Quit your WH job and go back to work for the lobbyist. Maybe he'll pay your legal fees.

10. As vicious as these folks have been...
I feel like rubbing their swine-like snouts in their own shit just as hard as I can, so the no-pity smiley just doesn't do it for me. Maybe the fact that I am sitting here listening to CSN's greatest hits (Ohio is playing right now), has reminded me clearly of what we accomplished in the 60s and 70s, and how these people have crapped all over it.

4. No sympathy for them
after what they put the Clinton staff through over nothing. All he hires are cronies and loyalists anyway so may they suffer the consequences of their new bankrupcy laws.

7. Good Grief! What's the point of that article? It makes no sense. Does
the WaPo think it should start a sympathy campaign for those who had to appear before Fitz's Grand Jury? Why write this now? Some of those in Bushie Administration starting to feel pain of hiring legal counsel?

Maybe Rove's aide should have kept her her high paying job with the lobbyist, who I assume is Norquist?

13. No, I think something is cooking, they know it and want to put
the story back on the radar screen. It's an awkward way of doing it -- I'll grant you that -- but that's precisely why I think the reason for doing it is that they heard something is coming...

27. Something is definitely cooking
Suddenly a lot of people are coming out and it appears the WH is falling apart. That's what happens when you put control freaks in charge and now their shit is falling down all around them. The mask is off, we have seent the face of evil and it resides in the WH.

9. Cry me a river...
poor little assholes suffer in silence. Too bad. I find it hard to believe that a human story can be attached for those who are more reptilian than human. Where was the humanity when Bill Clinton was hounded relentlessly? Where was the humanity when the right-wing screechers trashed Chelsea, who was completely innocent of anything?

I think we all know that their humanity comes and goes. It disappears when it comes to Democrats/Liberals, and is boundless when it comes to their own sins and shortcomings.

11. Oh! Let's compare to Clinton's
inquisition. They went to Little Rock and harrassed everyone who ever knew Clinton. Had to hire lawyers and go broke doing it.

Boo hoo - last week we were supposed to have MORE sympathy for the Pentagon workers than the victims of Katrina. Now we a re supposed to cry a river over a bunch of crooks.

oh brother.

16. Don't forget what happened to Clinton's friend
The one who went to jail because she wouldn't talk and tell them lies. If you haven't buy the movie "The Hunting of the President". Her experience was horrfying and they did that to her because she wouldn't lie about Clinton! Wasn't she raped on that bus ride?

18. Well bless her fucking heart.
And piss on the WP for even trying to sympathize her situation. I don’t know, know her association, collusion, fascism level. But I know she knows who she works for and her duties and her allegiance. Words escape me. I struggle to find the words to express my contempt. But I’m not the WP.

The WP gets their words from the WH and Rove. The WP should amend its masthead and change Post to Pravda. Regardless, their pages make for great linings in birdcages. And yet still not worth the subscription price.

Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 07:49 AM by formercia
Nobody calls Rove without approval from Norquist and Ralston acts as the conduit. She is a key player in this. She knows a lot of dirt.

29. Anyone associated with Clinton was nearly forced into bankruptcy
And hounded by Kenneth Starr's pack of ravenous maniacs, who leaked like hell in contravention of legal ethics and court order alike. And you NEVER saw a "human interest story" then.

This is, to quote the undying words of Seinfeld's Jackie Chiles, outrageous, egregious, prePOSTEROUS...

;-)

Hey White House staffers: Who told you to put the balm on?
