who WAS that weeping republican at the hearings calling liberals meanies?
i only caught part of it, and there was this republican (?) who was actually crying, or so it appeared, about how mean and hateful and nasty the liberals were to john roberts, the love child of charles manson and phyllis schlafley.

his performance was riveting, and vomit inducing at the same time.
who was this sniveling, simpering whiner? his name! i demand his name!

2. You might be thinking of Tom Coburn.

He was behaving like that today, if I recall.

5. You're welcome.
Coburn is truly one of the most demented ones, judging by his record and his words.

15. Did he cry? I heard he cried.
Did anyone comfort him? I hope so. Those poor repukes are having such a time of it. :sarcasm:

Gee, cry me a fucking river :eyes: The repukes have got backbones made of straw...unless they are in packs eating the young.

8. He must have been struck speechless, then, during the 8 year war
on Bill Clinton!

However, he regained his powers of speech in time to inform the world:
Here's what Oklahoma's newly-elected Senator Tom Coburn had to say on 8/31/2004:

"You know, Josh Burkeen is our rep down here in the southeast area. He lives in Colgate and travels out of Atoka. He was telling me lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that's happened to us?"

You know that deep in his heart, Cryin' Tom Coburn really cares.

Please don't cry, Dr. Tom.

13. You need to watch the Daily Show to see how Jon Stewart
explained him:

Yes, crying about hate in America, except when he said, last year while running for office

lesbianism was "so rampant in some of the schools...that they'll let only one girl go to the bathroom."

"The gay community has infiltrated the very centers of power in every area across this country, and they wield extreme power ... That agenda is the greatest threat to our freedom that we face today."

"the airing of Schindler's List as "...irresponsible sexual behavior...I cringe when I realize that there were children all across this nation watching this program."

Suggested that physicians who perform abortion should be put to death... never mind that as an ob-gyn he himself performed abortions

(also from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Coburn#Abortion)

And... he was caught working on a crossword puzzle while Hatch was questioning Roberts.

What an ass and a hypocrite

14. After he wept for the cameras, he did CROSSWORD PUZZLES
while the hearings were going on. TDS has video. Watch it (repeats at 1:00 am). It is a good show tonight, as usual.

22. From the WP
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/12/AR2005091200916.html

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) showed exceptional emotional versatility, working a crossword puzzle during the hearing and then choking back a sob while making a prosaic statement about partisanship.

can only take so much of that kind of theater. That kind of thing just feeds the mighty implosion that is looming.

20. Jon Stewart NAILED him tonight.
Talked about how he claims to want to bring and end to the "hatred," then went on to quote his anti-gay rhetoric and that "abortionists should get the death penalty."
