LOS ANGELES - Wranglers early Tuesday nabbed a 7-foot-long alligator named “Reggie” from a city lake where he had been dumped several months ago by a former police officer and repeatedly avoided capture.

“He put up a good fight,” said Jay Young, who helped catch the alligator along with a crew of handlers from Colorado. “We’re so excited right now.”

Because he had evaded officials for so long, Reggie had become a local phenomenon that drew gator wranglers from thousands of miles away and crowds of onlookers who tossed jelly doughnuts, tortillas and raw chicken into the lake to try to draw him out.

Young, 47, said his crew spotted the 180-pound reptile resting on land near the shore of Machado Lake in South Los Angeles. His brother, Noah Young, then walked up and slipped a rope around the gator’s neck, he said.

1. There's Still A Bunch Loose In Mississippi
Olbermann reported about a bunch of crocks that got loose near Gulfport and still haven't been found.

Keith said..."don't worry, they're friendly...just a little hungry".

I give credit to the gators and snakes of NOLA...even they knew how toxic those waters were and stayed out. Our real problem are the snakes in Washington.

2. Exterminationg Them Is The Real Challenge!
Maybe rope around their necks and some raw chicken would do the trick!

3. Here's The Man For The Job...

I suspect the local Repugnicans hope those hungry crocs search for dark meat. :sarcasm:

4. There are millions of gators in the SE. No gators need to "get loose"

They are already there. what is Keith talking about? In a few weeks, I'm going to a island on the SC coast where I almost always see gators, even on warm winter days. Gators are everywhere along the SE coast and far inland as well.

5. These Were "Pets"
I had a friend who lived near Fort Lauderdale who had a run-in with a very pissed-off alligator. It took them two days to get the critter out of the house...and he never felt comfortable there.

At least here in the north, we keep our alligators in the sewers and the rats eat them.

6. Another Viable Alternative To The DC Snake Problem!
Keep them in the Sewers and let the rats eat them!

Sounds like a great plan!
