LATEST FROM THE KANSAS BORD OF EDJICASHUN
Now the idiots are trying to pass an "opt-in" for sex education instead of an "opt-out." Hope it backfires on them.

5. Backfires as in . . .
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 12:38 PM by MrModerate
ensuring that their students are crammed full of useless myths instead of educated? That they are unequipped to compete in the 21st century because they've been canalized into 18th century thinking? That ignorant children will impregnate each other, and ensure they and their offspring are impoverished for the rest of their lives?

Never mind -- that's how education already works in Kansas. They're doomed. If you live in Kansas, move, for the sake of your children.

7. Backfires as in
losing them the election next time around. With this gambit, they've over-played their hand, and I really don't think all Kansans are stupid enough to re-elect them. We had the evolution shit come up a few years back and the idiots were voted out the next election. Unfortunately, the "christian" "right" (evil-doers all) voted in a bunch of bible-thumpers the next time around. Will be interesting to see what comes of THIS little SFB move!

14. Connie Morris is the leading wingnut pushing this idea.
I think she's overplayed her hand badly this year, and I'm hoping the voters won't sleep through school board elections again next time.

HERE is the dirt on Ms. Connie:

16. Problem is, she's from St Francis
way in the northwest corner of the state. Pretty fundamentalist country out there. I do think Steve Abrams who was defeated two elections ago and came back in the last election is vulnerable. God, I hope so. We just look stoopuder and stoopuder.

19. The board is now deadlocked, 5-5.
TOPEKA — The State Board of Education today failed to adopt a sex education policy.

The board deadlocked 5-5 on two proposals.

One proposal would have kept the current policy, which lets school districts decide whether to require parental permission for students to attend sex education class or , allows parents to take their child out of the class if they object. The so-called “opt-out” method is used by most districts, including Lawrence.

The other proposal would have recommended school districts require parental permission for the student to take sex education.

The deadlock means the board may take up the policy issue next month.
