Is Chimpy's "Acceptance" Of Responsibility a MEDIA Creation????
Was he really accepting responsibility or is the media latching onto this small part of an answer to a reporters question and creating this whole "Bush is accepting responsibility" meme?

It seemed to me in reading the transcript that Chimpy said this sort of in passing in response to a question and the media latched onto it like it was a lifeboat in a flood.

3. Don't be fooled, Texas Patriot!
I can't believe how naive we are even here at DU. Maybe because nice people never see the evil in others that they don't have in themselves!

"part true"? NOT! It is an old trick, already used by Reagan many times, and seeing how people here at DU have taken to it, it might just work!
"Taking responsibility" in this case means "I absolve myself of all accountability". This is the accurate translation.

I must be evil myself, cuz sometimes I feel I can read these BushCo people like open books!!

5. it's nothing notable- he HAD responsibility- he's the 'leader' ...he's
the failure in cheif.

He can't 'pick and choose' what he is 'responsibile' for- that's his fucking JOB!!!-

If he said "I am accountable for the errors" then i'd get out my sled, but he said nothing of the kind.

It's bushit more of the same, just served to an even hungrier crowd.

2. That's what happens when he's not speaking from prepared notes and reading
off of a card.

Expect the Rovian spin, clarifications, and explanations to start at any time now.

In freeperland their heads are exploding as they explain it away as * being taken out of context. They must be so sure that he is unable to take responsibility for *anything* that their spin cycles are starting to unbalance the rest of the machine. (Someone actually came up with the idea that he meant he was going to take responsibility for insuring that there was an investigation!)

4. Trying To Control The Message
That's the Rove game. It's not responsibility or truth or integrity, it's about generating headlines and verbage. Each day is a new message and once the game is set the blast fax goes out and the lap dogs and corporate media do their usual genuflecting.

What's the mindblow here is we'll hear these right wing asshats yelp that their manchild has now "taken responsibility" (of course without firing the goons responsible or holding anyone really accountable)...his contrition is purely verbal. Yet, these same goons who never accepted a Clinton appology, no matter how embarassing or gut-wretching it was...and still need the Clenis...now will want us to love their boy and what a great leader he really is.

This is massive damage control that we'll see how it washes. I don't think it's gonna be "messaged" over this time since the mistakes were so blatant, the spinning so out in the open and the contrition so late, more people view this regime with suspect than with respect.

6. NOT ONE of the reporters asked him why he didn't show up for 4 days!
after Katrina hit....Remember Bush eating cake at John McCain's birthday celebration and strumming his guitar at a Republican fundraiser while people DIED in New Orleans?....Which brings me to the question....Why has NO REPORTER asked him about this?...Doesn't that reveal a serious flaw in his leadership?...HE WAS INVISIBLE WHEN THE COUNTRY NEEDED A PRESIDENT'S REASSURING WORDS!
