A couple of guys from my law school went to the office of legal policy in the justice department around the time that Roberts was there. One of them had some glimmer of humanity, which I suppose has been snuffed out by now, the other never had any.

Both of them espoused extremely conservative views of the Borkian variety. The nasty one wanted to break up the U.S. into regional governments loosely held together by a small federal gov't. He was from Texas. No surprise there.
