I was invited to dinner with Bush...
but my partner answered the phone and said I wasn't interested without asking me first. We are now having a big fight over it, because I got pissed off at her. I have seriously wanted to do this ever since * got elected. I would have loved to go and suddenly start saying what I think, especially if a live TV crew was there. For reasons which I won't go into in case some Rethug is reading this, I seem very innocuous and could totally sneak in without anyone suspecting I'd cause trouble.

I don't know how such a flaming liberal like myself got onto a * invite list, but I sure want to take advantage of it if possible. I am trying to figure out who called to invite me, so I can call them and say I changed my mind. I have Caller ID, but it came up as Out of Area. My partner says it was some Congress person's office, but she doesn't remember whose. My Rep. is one of the most liberal members of Congress (Waxman) so I doubt it was him. Any suggestions as to how I can find out (and make peace with my sweetheart in the process)?

1. Yes, she should have asked your first, but she may have done you a favor
Those dinners are far from free.

2. Call the Republican representative in your area.
If that doesn't work, call the Republican party office locally. See who invited you. My guess is that you would get nowhere near Bush, anyway.

Good luck, and don't be mad at your partner for thinking you wouldn't be able to hold down your dinner in his presence.

5. did it list the OUT OF AREA NUMBER?cellphones can read OUT OF AREA +Number
sometimes, people who use cell phones and are calling from the same area where you are, their phones will list as OUT OF AREA plus it will show the phone number.

Good luck in finding who called and reversing the answer your partner gave for you...but based on what you are telling, would she have been trying to protect you from incarceration? I mean, look at the guy who told cheney to @#%^himself. He got arrested--and other people who have dissented with the bushit have also been arrested.

Good luck. Be Careful.

6. She probably did you a favor.
If you spoke your mind, you'd probably be served your dessert in Gitmo.

7. At least now you won't have to hire a lawyer or post bail

You may have had a moment with him but then you'd get audited by the IRS, your phone and Internet connections would be monitored, and your mail opened.

AND whatever you'd have said to him would NOT have done ANY good. He's a f*cking trout, not a man!

On edit: My apologies to trout!

8. That means you sit in a cavernous hall, get cold rubber chicken
you are knee to knee with total strangers, and you get NOWHERE NEAR the guy without ponying up THOUSANDS and conning your friends to do the same. Total waste of time, money, and psychic energy, IMHO.

Also, the media isn't covering these things like they used to -- at the most they will pull a single sound bite from the monkey if he says anything out of the ordinary (unlikely, they'll wind him up with the stump speech of the month), but any displays of opposition would have to be profound, organized, and involve a load of people before it would even be noted. All you would do is get hustled out of there, and your name placed on the GOP shit list...and who knows, maybe an IRS audit for your trouble.

Besides, why even respond to their failed agenda? Far better to work to advance our own...

9. Do you know what day or what occasion?
If you know the day, call the WH itself and explain the situation and how proud you would be to meet our fabulous leader and how mad you are at your partner who declined. Ask which congressman was setting it up.

10. When someone wanted to hire me for inaugural festivities
I learned that not only did they want my social security number and a photo ID; but they wanted to know my birthdate and race as well. Heaven only knows what other info they "needed", because I told the contractor that I really wasn't interested in playing for a bunch of drunken thugs.

Be prepared, though. You may find yourself disinvited due to your political leanings. If you contributed to Dems, you can be certain that the thugs know about it.

11. I was surprised
to even get a call like that in the first place. I thought I'd be on their shit list due to my business! (selling anti-Bush t-shirts etc.) I contribute to lots of liberal groups - Dems, Planned Parenthood, gay rights, etc.

I apologized to my sweetie and all is well. I'm still curious as to who called me but I'm not going to make a huge effort to get myself re-invited. Besides, if he's coming to L.A., I can make a better point by selling my buttons at the undoubtedly huge protest that will be taking place outside. :)

12. Could it have been a joke?
Or maybe it was their way of trying to embarrass you...invite you then disinvite you due to your political views.

14. do you own a business?
I get those calls pretty regularly because they have a list of small business people or something. The last time they called they wanted a $600.00 donation and I could go to a luncheon with him.(I hung up on them). Because of the wonderful Bush economy, I have to subsidize the income from my little business with a job waiting tables on the weekends, and last weekend the owner of the restaurant where I work mentioned that she had gotten another of those "have dinner with Bush" calls, but this time they were asking for a $1,000.00 donation.

I think if it's worth that much money to you, you could call the RNC and I'm sure they'd have info..but do ya really want to give the repubs $1000.00?
