Oh, my little granddaughters, I weep for you.
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 04:22 PM by Skidmore
I'm so sorry for what we are losing for you. I don't want a world where you have limited rights because you have a double-X chromosome. I don't want a world for you like my mother and grandmother had where they were tied with large families at an early age so they couldn't attain the educational level they wanted. I want you to know that I will fight for you to regain the ground we are losing today. Before I die, you will have your rights restored. This I vow as I watch narrow-minded old men assemble to make you a lesser person. You, in your delightfully bubbling infancy, are worth more than all of these. You are treasures.

1. I'll weep for your girls and you can weep for my boys, who will
suffer in their own way under this fascist regime.

4. How can you be so sure?
Wasn't the last decision 5-4? We don't know how Roberts will vote. And we certainly don't know how whoever replaces O'Connor will vote.

7. Sorry to say this, but I KNOW how Roberts will vote.
He's been endorsed by Falwell and Dobson.

This is the big chance for bush to make kissy-kissy with the fundamentalist enforced-pregnancy voters. Without their support, the GOP loses big, and so far what have they gotten? Bupkis, that's what. For all his scarey halfwit rhetoric, bush hasn't done anything substantial to advance their agenda -- unless you count pissing off the Middle East to promote Armageddon.

The SCOTUS noms are bush's big opportunity to give them something more than sound and fury on the domestic policy side. If he blows it, they'll stop voting.

birth control in general. I do think this man will be confirmed and that he is there because he owes someone. He will deliver women's rights to the zealots. It serves a dual purpose--it also gets women out of the workplace and back into the home. After the last few exchanges this afternoon, I'm convinced that the decks are stacked.

17. Exactly. It's Griswold v. Connecticut that they're REALLY after
and that god-damned "right to privacy" they hate so much.

the tip of the iceberg of what our sons and daughters and grandchildren will have to endure due to this criminal administration.

Staggering debt, highly damaged foreign relations that may take decades to repair, a whole new crop of terrorists that hate our guts more than ever, increasing poverty and eroding economic opportunities, a shadow government of radical theocrats and worst of all (at least in my mind) environmental damage that is quickly heading toward catastrophe.

And I'm sure I'm forgetting many things...

9. I wish men had vagina's and gave birth
Than maybe they'd know how it feels when other people without the same biological issues ,tell them who they are,try to control their bodies ,legislate their rights away and see them as sex objects to be exploited.

I bet no man could endure what a woman endures everyday in a female body living in this sexist culture without a serious mental breakdown.

I wish woman could choose biologically to abort a fetus by will alone, and men had no hope of having any say in it.

I wish men got pregnant..too.Like when two people had sex one or the other would get pregnant and it would be random ,not just the woman.

I wish a woman's vagina was ringed with razor sharp fangs,so that men would be forced to respect a woman's right to say no or to consent to sex..

Evolution let women down. And men have taken advantage of it far too much.

15. giving it teeth
http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=15&art_id=qw1125413643318B261

A controversial device, which its inventor claims clamps itself to a rapist's penis forcing him to seek medical treatment and be revealed to the police, will be launched by a South African woman on Wednesday.

The "Rapex" device is inserted into the vagina by a woman who feels she is at risk of rape, and if she is attacked, small burr-like teeth will attach themselves to the tip of the rapist's erect penis, explained inventor Sonette Ehlers.

As he withdraws and becomes flaccid, it is only possible to remove the device by surgery, Ehlers said ahead of a launch and demonstration at Kleinmond near Cape Town.'

"But if there was no consent, in common law, the victim may use the same amount of force as the attacker, based on a reasonableness test."

In Victoria, Australia, in 1979, the Police Chief explained Victorian law to mean that a woman being raped was legally allowed to scratch and bite. He was warning women not to get violent in response, because it was only rape being discussed.

11. If we lose Roe
every woman in America should refuse to have sex. This won't help rape victims, but maybe we can use all the money we save on birth control and lingerie to buy an Abortion Cruise Ship and dock it in International waters.

Deny them sex, lol. If that doesn't get those sick little self-interest serving rethugs to start giving ground, I doubt anything will.

14. would they notice?
That reminds me of my married days, my father suggesting I deny my husband sex if he didn't mow the lawns himself. (he did nothing at all to help) And I explained that wouldn't work, I was lucky to get it once a month as it was. Dad sighed understandingly, "I know the problem."

My attitude to this situation is that I don't want my sons growing up in a society where women are not treated with respect either. Anything polarising society is bad for everyone but the dictators at the top.
