Thursday. bush. No apology. No resignation. A sabotage -

- of the effort to have a real investigation of the latest of his bloody failures.

It will be a very short non-acceptance of responsibility, like today, followed by an announcement that he's ordered a "top to bottom" investigation of what went wrong. The bush regime, he'll announce, will investigate itself.

Effect they hope for? To thwart an independent investigation.

That's what Thursday will be about.

So predictable.

2. Then why bother?
Because nobody will be impressed and the public is clamoring for an independent investigation.

7. Is the public pissed or clamoring for an investigation? Will enough of
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 08:07 PM by Skip Intro
the public discern between a buscho ruse or a real, independant investigation? Or will something be diffused Thursday?

Getting in front of this is all they're about.

And how much of the public knows a tenth of the facts informed, or even casual, DUers do?

8. Why bother?
Because his numbers are in the crapper and his has to appear "PResidential". His speech writers are working franctically at this moment to give him words of inspiration and compassion, to make him look like a leader instead of the candy ass loser that he really is.

It will probably work. People are that stupid.

17. Personally
I think if he believes a nice little war on TV will mobilize the country around him he is SADLY mistaken.

His only hope right now is to just slink away. He might hang on to the office, but he can't get a damned thing done. His capital check bounced.

6. I hope he acts cocky. Some people are really
angry at this whole American debacle. I can't imagine how his appearance will help in any respect, for most anyone except the true blivet believers. Having said that, you can bet there will be investigations; he has damaged us further, and Homeland Security appears to be useless. Those are enough reasons for all of us to be enraged.

9. I do too. I'm not saying his show will work. But they are arrogant fools,
and they know what has worked in the past - repititon and "muddying the waters" so to speak.

I'm not so sure it will work for them this time, I don't think it will, but it seems clear to me that they will try it.

A sincere "buck stops here" moment/apology is the last thing I expect to see.

13. Are you Rove's brain?
You have this upcoming infomercial soooo nailed. We should all be writing LTTEs, letters to Dem congresscritters and telling everyone we know so we all seem like fortune tellers to the sheeple. Diffuse the BS!

I'd ask you for a winner in a football game, but the bushistas' game plans are much easier to figure out.

Kicked and recommended, great insight!

Exactly, nothing more then an attempted PR pitch, as his numbers reach Nixon's worst ever!--> Bush; "Goodnight and God Bless America".

20. add the 'Disaster Act' to the list of announcements.
Wonder what they'll acutally name it? 'Disaster Act' from the *walking disaster is as good as anything, I guess.

from LBN this morning:

Bush says he may need more power in disasters
WASHINGTON — President Bush on Monday urged Congress to examine whether the White House needs stronger powers to deal with catastrophes like Hurricane Katrina.

Bush’s backing for the congressional inquiry raised the possibility that lawmakers might expand presidential authority to:

• Order mandatory civilian evacuations

• Dispatch U.S.-based armed forces for emergency search-and-rescue operations

• Grant wider leeway for active-duty U.S. military personnel to carry out law enforcement operations.

“It’s really important that as we take a step back and learn lessons — that we are in a position to adequately answer the question: ‘Are we prepared for major catastrophes?”’ Bush said during a tour of hurricane damage in New Orleans.

He said if there was a terrorist attack with weapons of mass destruction, such as germ-warfare agents, “we’ve got to make sure we understand the lessons learned to be able to deal with catastrophe.”>>>>snip
