NYT just posted 10:35pm est: "Bush Unsure...
whether the country was adequately prepared for another catastrophic storm or terrorist attack."

WTF?! I thought Kerry was the indecisive one. As Rove has taught us, uncertainty is for pussies. Four years after 9/11, and bush still doesn't know if we're prepared yet? Is george bush going insane, consumed by self-doubt? Is his world-view collapsing in on him?

And keep trying to tie-in Katrina with 9/11, you dumb assholes. Pretty soon the public might notice the striking similarities between the two events, and realize bush was responsible for 9/11 also. 9/11 won't change people's views about Katrina; Katrina will change some views about 9/11.

14. Excellent, excellent, sound bite.
We're not prepared for catastrophic governance period -- and that is precisely what we have.

Are we going to band together and get THROUGH this nightmare as a nation of people working together for the betterment of us all, or are we going to sink into the quagmire left in the wake of the collapse of the American Empire?

4. If Iraq and 9/11 could be spun together by Rove and believed by a
substantial amount of Americans, surely the legitimate connection between Katrina and 9/11 can catch on.

29. Oh come on, he IS a decision maker
He made a decision to do NOTHING. He decided to eat cake. He decided to play the guitar.

This latest statement has to do with the flooding they are expecting in NC as Ophelia grinds away right off the coast. He will probably DECIDE to take his sweet time helping those "folks" too, especially if they are "po' folk".

What a putz; he campaigned as the guy to protect the dumb Muricans, and now, quite late in the game, he has DECIDED that he might not be so good at that, after all. What a schmuck!!! What a decision maker!!!

Kerry was the one who was gonna feed us to the wolves or something? Wasn't that what Unca Dick Cheney told us during the 2004 campaign?

I dunno about you folks, but I've got this funny feeling that we've been lied to, or something. :sarcasm:

Bush says he may need more power in disasters

By STEWART M. POWELL

WASHINGTON — President Bush on Monday urged Congress to examine whether the White House needs stronger powers to deal with catastrophes like Hurricane Katrina.

Bush’s backing for the congressional inquiry raised the possibility that lawmakers might expand presidential authority to:

• Order mandatory civilian evacuations

• Dispatch U.S.-based armed forces for emergency search-and-rescue operations

• Grant wider leeway for active-duty U.S. military personnel to carry out law enforcement operations.

“It’s really important that as we take a step back and learn lessons — that we are in a position to adequately answer the question: ‘Are we prepared for major catastrophes?”’ Bush said during a tour of hurricane damage in New Orleans.

He said if there was a terrorist attack with weapons of mass destruction, such as germ-warfare agents, “we’ve got to make sure we understand the lessons learned to be able to deal with catastrophe.”>>>>snip

20. WTF is Bush telling us and the world?
This is nuts. Bush isn't sure if we are prepared for another attack or disaster? Hello stupid, you might not want to admit that to the whole world. Osama might get wind of it and decide it's a good time to attack. Oh that's right, Osama is a paper tiger and you know that you don't have to worry about him because he takes orders from you. But what about China, Russia and even North Korea?

Everyday Bush stays in power makes us less safe. It's time for them to go.

why some of the people who chose Bush over Kerry for 'security' reasons... which one would YOU rather have keeping you safe, an ex-soldier who had been decorated for bravery under fire, or a spoiled brat whose rich daddy's senator friend had managed to get him a national guard position?
Not the hardest of choices there. Yet so many made the wrong one.

23. Here is what the pugs and Rove will campaign on in 2006...
"Next year, the ally said, Mr. Bush would return to issues like overhauling the tax code and the immigration laws that he had hoped to get a start on this year."

Again, Bush will be speaking in front of a Bush friendly audience, it's a black church, but very Bush friendly....

"On Friday, which he has designated a national day of prayer and remembrance, he is planning to speak at the Washington National Cathedral in the morning, and T. D. Jakes, a conservative African-American television evangelist, is scheduled to deliver the sermon with some evacuees from New Orleans in attendance."

Nothing has changed...it's all spin and I hope the Democrats don't allow him to get away with it. This tiger has not changed its stripes.

24. The Prophet Dick Cheney, 9/7/04:"...if we make the wrong choice, then... "
"the danger is that we'll get hit again."

Dick, I gotta hand it to you, you were absolutely right -- America **did** make the wrong choice at the polls (or it was made for them) -- your boy miraculously got handed another term. And we were hit again. Hard.

In fact, your boy LOST AN ENTIRE AMERICAN CITY. :grr:

Cheney: Kerry Victory Is Risky
Democrats Decry Talk as Scare Tactic

By Dana Milbank and Spencer S. Hsu
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, September 8, 2004; Page A01

COLUMBIA, Mo., Sept. 7 -- Vice President Cheney warned on Tuesday that if John F. Kerry is elected, "the danger is that we'll get hit again" by terrorists, as the Bush campaign escalated a furious assault on the Democratic presidential nominee that has kept Kerry from gaining control of the election debate.

In Des Moines, Cheney went beyond previous restraints to suggest that the country would be more vulnerable to attack under Kerry. "It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on November 2nd, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again," the vice president said, "that we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States, and that we'll fall back into the pre-9/11 mind-set, if you will, that in fact these terrorist attacks are just criminal acts and that we are not really at war."
