I accidentally spent my 900th post on a reply...

...my original intent was to post something pithy and pertinent regarding "post count".Toward that end I did some looking earlier and found people with high post counts in mere months and those who spent MUCH more time listening than talking...in some cases I suspect there is wisdom there...The Du great-granddaddy is of course Will Pitt and a prolific count of over 30,000 posts since 2002.From Will I can't recall one vanity post,no worthless threads, and no ego boosters...Thanks to a consummate pro,Will....November will be my anniversary date here and by then I expect to be our version of a Jedi Master...A 1000+ post count, our Good Housekeeping seal of approval.As much as I covet the "Mark of the Master" I treasure all that I have experienced at the hand of a great community in this last year more.Again my thanks to all....Cat

1. I remember I waited two days before posting my 1,000th post.

I tried to gather my thoughts into an essay of sorts. Didn't happen. I've been feeling so tossed around these past couple of weeks especially, that I couldn't do it. You make a great point about the community here, and what value everyone offers it. Congrats on your 900th!

....it takes a HARD RADICAL FREEPER type to post a thousand times without reverting once to his or her basics...even though I've seen 1000+ posters I disagreed with my assumption is that my disagreement is with a fellow democrat.My baby brother is a mixed type...though democratic and heavy in terms of union support, he objects to affirmative action AS IT APPLIES TO FEMALES...so 95% of the time you would think of him as one more liberal poster.But on that one point you would think it was probably a person from another site...So if I then read 1000+ posts..(and see they've been on site for a year or so)I assume it is a fluke of personality and try to listen to their argument and balance it's merit...I figure I owe that to one of my community....Anyhow....

...and have seen several of your posts...I did not realize HOW long you've been here...I value different posters for different reasons...I love MoPaul for his raves..TomYossaianJoad for his principled stands on basic human decency...any post from LaLaRaw for breaking news and confirming what we already suspected....I loved AndyStephenson for his activism...And you and a host of the "ancient ones" for the balance brought to the board...I probably speak too soon and too sarcastically....that is my response to the pain I feel for my country....But I sure as HELL love it here...DU is my home...

there with gaps of weeks between. However, Katrina (the terrible response, I mean) has doubled my post count in only two weeks. It's hard to follow this one as just as an observer or lurker.
