Okay, Norah O'Donnell did NOT say "ascared" |
|
I just watched the re-run. I expected perhaps some editing, but no, they appear to be re-running the show intact. Listening to O'Donnell, she clearly does a slight stutter when she says Bush's advisors "...are, uh, scared." Not "ascared," as was attributed to her in earlier DU posts.
KO's show is good stuff on its own, without us having to make stuff up!

5. There's a difference between the two |
|
"Scared" - that can be anything. "Ascared" is when even the child in you is scared. It's more fear, less rational thought.
Yeah, I say ascared sometimes too. It just fits better sometimes.

Thanks. ;) I still like ascared. It was so cute and she was so obviously rattled. :)

9. I wasn't saying you did. |

I wasn't saying anyone did. It was a generic usage of "make stuff up." I know you or anyone else didn't sit there and contrive some story to make Norah look bad. I was just kind of amazed at the life that thread took on, and how so many people were willing to jump all over this. Sometimes we really seem to be getting desperate for new rw bashees. I'll be honest with you, I didn't even get the impression that she was "rattled" as everyone seems to be saying. But that's just me.
My apologies to you, Marple. It was a bizarro day on DU. Believe me, I know how simple thoughts can be misconstrued here...I'm pretty sure I was the one who posted the first "what if Bush resigns Thursday" threads, which also took on a life of their own, as poster after poster seemed to ignore the "what if" part, and immediately took to trashing me and anyone else ignorant enough to think Bush will actually resign.
Posts are moving at double and triple speed these days, and I think maybe people are trying to read fast to keep up. Or something. Anyway, I digress. The bottom line is, N'accuse. It was just a poor choice of sentence. My bad.

10. No worries. It just struck me as funny. And I needed funny. |

Maybe we all do. Things are just being wound tighter and tighter. Something is either going to give or this will all just get dusted away. But Katrina will be hard to sweep under the rug. And she would leave a big, inescapable lump.
Now they are suggesting George will announce hostilities against a new target. Hoo boy! Thinking about that makes my head weary.
