Greenpeace
Imagine 100,000 people killed or injured in 30 minutes. It's a terrible thought. But everyday, the Bush administration is risking lives for the benefit of the chemical industry. Tons of hazardous materials are speeding toward densely populated cities day in and day out on our nation's railways. In the event of a terrorist attack, just one of these trains could kill or injure as many as 100,000 people within 30 minutes. The impact of a coordinated, multi-city attack? Unimaginable.

London and Madrid have already been targeted, and it is only a matter of time before similar attacks are launched within the United States. In fact, the FBI discovered Al Qaeda photographs of U.S. railroads, engines, and cars in 2002.

Toxic chemicals are truly weapons of mass destruction - and Bush need only look in his own backyard to find them.

That's why Greenpeace did show up in Bush's backyard, to demonstrate the risk of a toxic terrorist attack. This morning, 100 people collapsed in front of the U.S. Capitol - 1 person to represent the 100 per SECOND that scientists estimate would be impacted in the case of a chemical attack. We joined forces with families of the victims of 9/11 and survivors of hurricane Katrina to honor lives already lost, and to call on the government to prevent further tragedy.

Take Action >> Tell Congress to clean up Bush's mess - before thousands of people lose their lives: http://usactions.greenpeace.org/action/start.php?action_id=63

Sincerely,

Rick Hind
Legislative Director
