Anyone notice how Roberts keeps saying he was a "staff lawyer" |
|
to defend his decisions? He talks about being an "umpire" and not "making policy" but merely "interpreting". Apparently he thinks that his job is to interpret the law--or "call the shots"--according to how "his team" sees the rules. Is this clear to anyone else?
Here's just one example:
Roberts bristled slightly, telling the lawmaker, "You've not accurately represented my position."
"I was not formulating policy. I was articulating and defending the administration's position," Roberts told Kennedy.

1. Exactly!. Which is why I want to know who his boss will be!!! |
|
He's performed superbly for his boss in the past. Given that it's Bush nominating...who's his boss?

What I find amusing is how conservative rags interpreted his comments as saying he won't uphold RvW and liberal rags are saying he will.... now that feat is pretty damn impressive especially in watching the thing he isn't saying a damn thing to me, frankly.
How many politicans can do that? Get both sides to hear what they want to hear?
I find the entire thing absolutely frightening, this guy could be there 40 years and he's skating by without finding out his true position.

4. Meaning he'll interpret the law the way he is "supposed to". |
|
According to the "policies of the administration", just as he did during Reagan's reign.
