Katrina May have Accidentally Given Bush...

... a perfect smokescreen, behind which he can push his hidden agendas.

Think about it. While our country's news orgs are predominantly preoccupied with Katrina's devastation & the aftermath -- who's minding the store 24/7 on the intricate workings of this administration's unpublicized ventures at home and abroad?

Bloggers ...keep on bloggin'.

1. You mean like drilling in ANWR? Or rolling back environmental regs...
... on oil refining? Or further privatization of military and other government responsibilities?

2. Many within his own ranks are now, at the very least, dubious.
"unpopular" and taking it from all sides ...

I like those odds.

6. Well
That's what they've been doing all along. If anything, this raises serious concerns and, while certain thing CONTINUE to go unnoticed, there will be a higher level of overall scrutiny.

It's been fun watching the freepers actually resort to attacking everyone and anyone who is NOT Bush for Katrina, from the citizens to the mayor to the governor; in short, the people who were actually there, for whom they claim to care so deeply.

7. Bush Apologized For, and Took Responsibility For...
...the Fed's failures here. While I respect the action (but let's face it -- what choice did he have), this can give him a pass in the public eye; while he can privately pursue with impunity the objectives of the "haves and the have mores."

8. Yep, Bolton's been his busy evil self at the U.N.
Even while Katrina was destroying and killing, Bolton was at the U.N. fighting any unified effort to combat global warming and poverty. He's been waging holy hell there and it's all slipped under the radar.

Yet, at some point we have to share some of the blame. I've seen many DUers here post about what's going on and their threads have scrolled off the pages with barely a response. I myself posted a couple of threads about what Bolton was up to at the U.N. but those threads sank like a stone.

If we're not interested, how do we expect the rest of America to care?

9. I wont forget. I still send e-mails , I still sign petitions and I still
write to the National Media encouraging them to keep focus on Karl Rove. I understand where you are coming from. There is strength in numbers. I strongly feel that while the desire is there, the lack of courage to be the " Aggressive Progressive' is what contributes to the hold back. You are right.

10. Great Point;...
...let's just hope that the unwarranted pride of this administration has been exposed to the point where independent thinkers (of every stripe) will come to scrutinize the entire record here.

Unfortunately, common suffering is one of the few dynamics that can dissolve artificial ideological barriers; and remind us of our common humanity.
