CNN crawl last night--The reason Bush claimed responsibility was
"So Michael Brown wouldn't be scapegoated according to a senior White House official' So thats the reason, not because he actually thinks he's to blame at all, to protect Brownie.

1. Interesting. Scapegoated?
Why should Bush or the administration care if they sacrificed Mike Brown?

Would Mike Brown sue them? What is the threat?

6. Mike knows where some of Bush's bodies are buried.
He'll be well protected by the BFEE, no matter what happens here. Give him a year. He'll be head of the UN or something. Bush takes care of them that takes care of Bush.

5. IF he was protecting anyone, my guess would
be Chertoff, but I think it was mostly because Rove told him to do it.

8. A Rep "taking responsibility" is Page-1 news.
I find it facinating that when the head of "the Party of Personal Responsibility" actually takes responsibility (even begrudgingly and full of caveats), it's worthy of "lead story" status on the evening news.

voting base who only read one book and believe everything their revernends and Liddy, North, Hannity, Limbaugh, Phelps, Coulter, Moon, Murdoch, etc. tell them. They are the devoted defenders whose vote is essential to Cheney.

Bush is a front man just as much as Brown was for a week, but Bush has been programmed to think he is President and we know what that means - a delusional person bent on loyaty, betrayal, and revenge who fronts for a cabal that creates delusions that we live by while they destroy us. Every vote counts. Your elected officials are working for you. The government is yours and works for you. Lobbyists play a small role. The FDA and Homeland Security are your friends. etc.

Cheney equals PNAC, Fed Society, Tri-Lateral, Illuminati, CEO's and their stockholders, military brass, intelligence services, etc.

Your either for duct tape or your against it.

10. naahhhh
He doesn't care about anyone but himself.

It's a political ploy, pure and simple, designed to try and keep him from hemorraghing the pub base anymore than he already has.

I wonder what KKKarl threatened him with to make him say even THAT much. Though, carefully parsed, he's not admitting blame nor guilt for anything, really.

11. well i don't disagree with him only caring about himself but the point
is for me anyway is that people were happy he took some blame and it turns out it was just about protecting his buddy for whatever the reason.

13. no no- that's just the spinmeisters
See - everyone's happy. He "accepts blame" which makes a lot of moderate pubs/independents happy - except for those people who think he's the messiah and can't believe he is responsible for anything going wrong, so the spin for them is - he was just being a really swell guy and protecting his buddy.

Only those who know him for the true slime he is knows everything he does is a calculated sham.

14. I heard a reporter last night (can't remember who) who actually said
that the idiot saw his LOW poll numbers and had gotten so much grief from the repukes in congress, he had to do something to stop the bleeding.

I thought he didn't pay attention to polls? Just another lie. LIES, LIES, LIES.

15. Um! They Fired Him So He Wouldn't Be Scapegoated?
He took responsibility to protect a guy who they already fired, to protect him from being the scapegoat, when firing him already made him the scapegoat?

Huh?

17. I Don't Doubt You For A Minute
But, as i said, it makes no sense, since they already scapegoated Brown themselves. That would seem to make it impossible for them to prevent others from doing it too!

18. I believe he will twist this debacle into a reason for backing another
misguided use of our military.

Since we can't protect ourselves at home it's now more important than ever to "fight them over there".
