The "welfare state". I got one of those copy-and-paste broadcast emails that set forth this (ahem) 'argument'. Guess they're trying to blame everything they don't like.
What's next? "It's Medicare's fault"? "If we still had a 19th century social and economic structure this wouldn't have happened"?
