What exactly does it mean for Bush* to say he accepts responsibility?
People are being indicted over lack of or failed efforts. People are dead because of unusually slow response from Federal Government and Bush* says he accepts Responsibility. What happens to people who are Responsible for people's deaths? What is goiung to happen to Bush*. Just another empty catch phrase, a political soundbite. If he is responsible then he needs to pay a price.....

Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 10:47 AM by stellanoir
recollection of something about taking some sort of oath or something.

About two weeks ago I was referring to the last inauguration and was talking really fast and I misspoke and called it the "ignore your nation." Really apt slip.

4. I am certain that it means
Bush will be writing a personal check in the amount of one trillion dollars for property damage and infrastructure. Additionally, he'll write individual checks to each surviving victim in the amount of $50,000. After that, he'll show up in the House chamber and wait for impeachment.

That must be what he means by saying that he takes full responsibility, right?

5. Exactly as much as when...
...he promised to "change the tone" in government, or when he made any of his other promises. They are so much wind, and have nothing to do with his agenda.

6. It means he is president and in charge of the federal government

It is like saying I am responsible for doing my job and if I don't do my job then it is my fault that I haven't done it.

Most of us learn this level of responsibility with our first jobs in highschool if not before.

7. It means exactly as much as the Magic Jesus Passwords he says
so he can get to heaven: "I accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior". Voila - ticket to heaven no matter how many illegal wars, dead bodies in NOLA, human rights violations, etc.

They are both just meaningless drivvel. He thinks if he says "I accept responsibility for anything the federal government did wrong" that he can then just get on with his life and forget about it.

9. "to the extent the federal government failed" he accepts responsibility
Since his spinners are still trying to lay the whole thing on the state and local people, he's saying he "takes responsibility" for NOTHING.

I accept his apology "to the extent" that he resigns.

13. It doesn't mean diddly-squat.
The statement was couched in weasel words to make it easier to wriggle out of later on; it signifies nothing.

14. It means he's trying to recapture those from his "base"
That have abandoned him. Perhaps they will find it in their Christian, right-wing hearts to forgive him, and give him their full support again.

16. What does it mean? Nothing without follow-up
And it's up to us to impress on the public mind that Bush is responsible for the homicidally slow response of the federal government to assist with the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

If we keep saying this, and keep repeating that Bush has admitted that he is responsible for the failures of FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security, then we can let the Republicans dance around and try to claim that what Bush plainly and clearly said isn't really what he meant. But the basic point is so simple, clear and direct that even the talking chuckleheads in the media understood it.

Bush's admitted responsibility will mean something if we make it mean something.

18. Nothing, indeed
First, we had "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job." Then, to Nancy Pelosi, "What didn't go right?" And finally, the qualifier-laced "Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government, and to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do it's (sic) job right, I take responsibility. I want to know what went right and what went wrong."

Sounds to me like *'s "taking responsibility" for something he doesn't believe exists.

19. It means "...Now leave me the f**k alone."
When it should mean, "With a saddened heart for all that I have regretfully done, I hereby leave the office of the presidency."
