Anyone here beleive there's a chance in hell they'll reject Roberts?
Despite his admitted lack of knowledge of the first amendment? Despite his lies? Despite his stonewalling? Despite his dispicable record as a judge? Despite the hateful things he wrote as a white house employee in the 80's?

I honestly wonder anymore if we will ever have someone appointed to a position on their merits, or if from now on we will just pick the best sycophant and party loyalist for positions. Is there any chance, just this once, that they will say, "find a nominee that is not quite such a fascist.?"

16. I like today's poem that sumarized the hearings
http://www.moresoftmoneyhardlaw.com/

Must the Court bless smut and other such vices?

I can’t say much but: stare decisis!

May a President jail any and all in a crisis?

I can’t say much but: stare decisis!

Will the Court defer or will it despise us?

I can’t say much but: stare decisis!

Is privacy protected in all shapes and sizes?

I can’t say much but: stare decisis!

Are your views like Bob Bork’s or more like Brandeis’?

I can’t say much but: stare decisis!

Will you ever say anything at all to surprise us?

I can’t say much but: stare decisis!

Do you still favor term limits—a time when you’ll go??

No.

4. Anybody rubber-stamping Roberts is a fifth columnist.
So much for saving their fire for the big issues.

civil rights & women's rights; that he is a lap dog for corporate interests seems to matter not....he is getting paid off, handsomely, for his pro bono work during the 2000 Florida farce. Incredibly no one seems to mind that he 'forgot' he was a member of the federalist society.

10. Being in the Federalist Society is not like being in the Klan
or something. It is definitely a right-wing crackpot organization, but I'm pretty sure every republican I went to law school with was probably a member of it at some point or another. I think membership gives a pretty good indication of one's political leanings, but it is, relatively speaking, a fairly mainstream conservative group.

12. Yes....I listened for 4 hours
yesterday while driving.....It got heated . Graham sounded like an idiot.Schumer was great and pressed hard as did others. His stance on voting rights is scary and the democratic senators took great issue with a memo from Roberts that said:" he saw no evidence of voter disenfranchisment".....they got nuts''''"we held hearings and you say no evidence...that's why we were holding hearing with plenty of evidence.......but Roberts saw no evidence????........................
Robert Bork has made the comment that he did not become controversial until October and he was nominated in July.
I do pray that they have the strength and the backing of the American People to reject him ......Bush in in the toilet anyway.....pray.

13. Won't happen
These hearings are actually pretty tepid. And Roberts is very good at parrying and stonewalling. He'll slide, with probably a lot more than just a few Democratic votes.

14. If the Democrats take a stand against the war against the American people,
the Democrats will reveal themselves as unfit to lead the American people. Only by accepting the policies and appointees of a man who lied us into a disastrous war can they prove themselves worthy to be the genuine Opposition Party.

15. Doesn't the full Senate have to vote on him"
Isn't this just the committee hearing?. If he passes this hurdle there is always the chance that the idjit* will do something incredibly stupid between now and then that will take roberts and the whole ship of fools down. I won't hold my breath, but, I like longshot gambles.

18. Yes It Is A Full Senate Vote
And I too play the long shots. Got a damn good bank account playing Saratoga and Del Mar this summer. Damn Good! I predict Roberts is GONE. Not because of Biden and Ted but because Repubs are too afraid of losing their 2006 bid. John boy is tied too tightly to Bush and Bush is in the poop. Just saying. Been wrong before will be wrong again. But I have no money on John of the Bulging eyes.
