How is Bush's responsibility quip being received?
I haven't been able to keep up with the MSM for the past couple of days so I was wondering if anyone has a general idea how Bush's "to the degree blah blah blah..I take responsibility" quip being received?

Is Rush, O Reilly, Hannity etc..gushiing over what a stand up guy Shrub is? Are CNN, MSNBC holding forth on his great leadership and trying to create another myth like 9/11?

1. Depends whther the person saw it or read it

REading it, it comes off as, you know, sorta self deprecating.

If you actually SEE him saying it, he comes off as a petulant child.

4. It was all in his delivery
He looked like a 5 year old who just got caught lying for the first time. He probably even had his fingers crossed.

7. Rachel Maddow mentioned that on her show this morning
That he looked even more awkward and uncomfortable than he sounded. Anyone have a link to the video? Anyone?

3. yep. the faithful are swooning and the rest of us are rolling our eyes.
I think the real question is: does anybody actually believe the sincerity? I don't.

6. Maybe he will have a Jimmy Swaggart moment tomorrow night
Maybe they want to see if people were willing to show support if he took conditional responsibility. If the reaction was tepid, maybe Shrub will go into full Jimmy Swaggart mode tomorrow night and start crying. Then all the wingnuts will start crying and declaring Shrub a saint or something.

14. "Ah have SINNED..."

Someone mentioned that he might try to "do a Swaggart" last night. But a problem has arisen: Bush has asked Congress to look into giving the President EXPANDED powers in disasters, which dovetails into his attempt to get the Lousiana governor to exchange her power over the military and National Guard for aid.

So much for taking the responsibility because it was "the right thing to do."

9. I walked by a news stand yesterday.
Through the metal box, you could see the headling "BUSH TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAILINGS". I though, WOW, there's a headline for you.

Obviously a first. I don't think it will improve or hurt his image any more than it has already.

11. Mike Reagan's take yesterday...
...He's the only one in New Orleans being a man about it. He's taking responsibility, even though he didn't have to, wasn't his fault, totally the fault of any democrats we can find in the area, it was totally the victims fault, totally the fault of those old biddies in the nursing home...

It wasn't his fault, but he's a stand up guy, a real leader like my dad, remember my dad, Ronald Reagan? Yeah, I'm his son, Ronald Reagan the former president's son, that's me, I'm the son of Ronald Reagan, if you catch my drift. What I'm trying to say is that Ronald Reagan was my dad, the father of me, Mike Reagan. In case you missed it, my dad was Ronald Reagan, so I'm his son Mike....blah blah blah blah....

13.  even though he didn't have to, wasn't his fault,
So...even they are calling him a liar? . Good point to make with those who have republican friends.

"He is only accepting responsibility because blah blah blah....fill in with any talking points they have going on", so says the pukes. Meet any and all of the talking points with "So, you think your pretzledent is a liar?" Don't foget to smirk. ;-)

12. Words mean nothing to him...
Just another statement written by others that he read 2 minutes before airtime and that he reads without comprehension.

16. It's was a good political move to slow his sinking numbers.
That said, I don't think he believes it or has any remorse. I think he just thinks he stuck and had to do it to get back to cronyism as usual.
