I think we're seeing some of the philosophical shortcomings that have been hidden brought to light. For example, the whole privatization rationale was that government was inefficient. This case makes it clear that privatization is not a panacea; it can even bring a whole new layer of waste and fraud.

Another philosophical tenet of the GOP has been that the free market can better supply needs and wants to a free society than do-gooders and bleeding heart liberals can. But what appears to be lacking in the administration is civil servants - people whose ambition is not to make a financial killing but to make a living while serving their community and country.

The attempts by the Right to continue to blame the Left are wearing thin. Maybe we will finally have a more honest analysis of RW philosophy.
