JOHN ROBERTS: What sort of PREP SCHOOL produces a fellow like him?
I just heard him talk in his testimony about how he had a "typical middle-class" upbringing in Indiana, one that exposed him to a wide diversity of others from a variety of experiences and backgrounds, including steel mill workers.

Excuse me? Does this look like the sort of high school that typical Midwestern children attend?

http://www.lalumiere.org/about/roberts.htm

Maybe it was a different place in '72, but today it's a prep school with

--a 1:6 student-teacher ratio,

--a faculty where more than half hold at least a Master's degree,

--a tuition of $21,885 annually for boarding students.

Now, does it seem like his definition of "typical middle-class" is not exactly the same definition used by the rest of us? And is this a consistent tactic he's using in his testimony--referencing different meanings for terms and concepts than those commonly held by the rest of us? And what implications might this have on his credibility?

1. GOOD LORD
No, most middle-class people do not attend a school that's remotely like that.

2. My family was solidly middle class (upper class now)
And I didn't go to a school like that until I went to Niagara University as a college student.

3. Agreed. If he can't even be straight with us about his upbringing,
if he's misleading us about verifiable information like this, then what's in those thousands of pages of documents he's refused to turn over to the Judiciary Committee? What are they hiding? I just don't trust him.

4. Consistent with the administration...
Their world view is that everyone goes to prep school, has servants and has been hand picked by God to lead the rest of us poor saps. I doubt if he has ever struggled with anything in his life, car payment, dishwasher breaking, roof on the house, loss of job, anything. Just like the rest of El Presidente's entourage, they are princes and princesses who scream over the pea under the mattress. Then couple that with their distorted sense of noblese oblige and we have the start of a monarchy...
