7. Nightline covered this story last night if it's the congressman
from NO who dragged a NG truck to his neighborhood under the pretenses of "seeing what his district looked like", made them drive up onto his lawn so he didn't have to walk through water, made them wait and hour while he packed stuff, during which time the NG truck got stuck. A helicopter then wasted valuable time (45 minutes, I believe) sending someone down twice to see if the Congressman wanted to go up in the helicopter (he refused), then the helicopter ended up heading back with fewer rescuees than it might have had because it was low on gas, and another NG truck wasted valuable time getting the 1st out of the mud.

9. Yep, I'm sure that's the same one. Loke Dean said, "It's not good
enough to just get Dems elected. We need to replace the ones who just sat on their butts and did nothing except try to get re-elected!"

Yea, I know he didn't mention corruption, but we all know he meant that too!

16. I saw this last night. :puke:

Here's how it goes. bush* is at best guilty of negligent homicide, at worst he is guilty of crimes against humanity. To make sure that no one will mistake reporting the truth with partisanship, they must dig up something--anything--on a Dem.

8. It's Jefferson and all he did was go to his home when he was touring

his district. He was with the NG looking at the damage in his district and asked them if they would wait so he could check out the damage to his home. He went inside for 45 minutes to an hour. He came out with his laptop, 3 small suitcases with clothes and a box with various things. OK. WTF is wrong with that? He was THERE, in his neighborhood, driving right by his home and needed to get clothing and personal care items PLUS, check on his house. SO WHAT! The repukes are REALLY grasping at straws here. Is the man not entitled to have clothing? Is he not entitled to save his possessions? He was already there. This is another mountain built from a repuke ant hill. :eyes:

12. What you read was Jefferson's response to the accusations.
I don't care if he's a Dem or not! He was WRONG to do this, and now CYA!

13. If you just look at the story without all the RW spin, it doesn't look
unreasonable to me. He just wanted to get things from his home while he was "in the neighborhood", I see nothing wrong with that. I really don't know anymore than what I've seen reported. People weren't screaming when the idiot, Blanco and Nagin were riding around with the NG for photo ops. I bet Blanco has been to her home to see the damage and I bet she was taken there by the NG. Honestly, I think this is a story being blown out of proportion by the repukes. That's just my opinion though. :) AND, WHO said his district tour was 'under the guise' of checking out his district? How do we know that's NOT what he was doing?

11. I think you're wrong on this one. His house was raided by the FBI
a week or so prior to the folld, and he tied up a NG rescue truck, a rescue helicopter, and another NG truck to pull the first one out that got stuck in his yard! All this while people were screaming on their roofs, and drowning in the flood waters.

Sorry, this guy was selfish and criminal!

15. I'm sure the NG was the only way MOST politicians got to their flooded
homes. Who said he wasn't 'legitimately' visiting his district? Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with what he did. If he was there already looking at his district, what's the harm in saving things from his home? WHO told this story to the press? Wanna bet it's a repuke?

If he's a crook, he should go to jail.

17. Anderson Cooper had one of the NG truck drivers on his show
last night. He explained that Jefferson was being driven around his district, and said they weren't far from his house, and wanted to go there. He then asked if he could go in and retrieve some personal things. They pulled up close enough to his front steps so he wouldn't have to tread through water. He was inside for about one hour. Because of all the water , and they were stopped in his yard, the truck got stuck in the mud and radioed for another truck to help. While they were waiting, a rescue shopper came by and dropped a rescuer down, but Jefferson refused his help. The rescuer was drawn back up to the chopper. A second truck came by and pulled the first truck out of the mud, and both trucks drove off. The only other thing I remember is the statement that the chopper rescued one other person, and had to return due to low fuel.

Those rescue vehicles were tied up for several hours because this guy wanted to tour his jurisdiction and stop at home, while they had lives to save????? He could have toured his jurisdiction the next day or several days later! He wasn't helping anyone but himself!

When Anderson asked him why these NG guys took Jefferson, he said, they had a mission to do and they did it.

I didn't see anything RW about the story, and my own judgement is that Jefferson was wasting valuable lifesaving time without just cause!

14. Jefferson went to check on his flooded out destroyed home, briefly leaving
the disaster that was the Superdome, and he is being vilified in the press. Meanwhile, the President, who during this same period of time was in San Diego scaring the shit out of the idiot masses or on vacation at his ranch, escapes the press' attention completely.
