the cops here are really edgy today and yesterday and the day before
I can't figure out what it is. I asked a friend of mine who is a state trooper and he said they aren't allowed to say anything.

Is anyone else experiencing edgy cops, or have you noticed edgy cops?

I took the dogs for a walk at about midnight last night and was surrounded by 5 cops at once in their cars with the lights off. Scared the crap out of me and felt like I didn't have the right to walk around my neighborhood. They asked me a bunch of questions like where I was going, do I always walk the dogs so late (which I do), if I had id on me. I called today and complained and recieved an apology but this is really fucked up. My neighbor has also had problems this week. I won't go into detail but these guys are acting like it's martial law or something. At first I thought maybe there had been a break in somewhere in our neighborhod but it was confirmed today that that wasn't the case.

1. Move to Cornwall...
The weed is cheap, and most of the cops smoke too...

15. Yeah...
But there's a lot of homophohiba and still a bit of racism, but we have strong community activists working to improve things...Though it's odd to see so many bigots this close to Montreal Island.

8. I'd love to see the Fraternal Order of Police busted up (pro-Bush too).

I'm sick of seeing 5,6,7...cops surround a single person. I find it hard to sympathize with them. At gunpoint, they held American CITIZENS back, away from safety down in New Orleans. It's the Military that's keeping the peace in NO right now. They want, tasers, just another toy to brutalize a civilized society, a way to get their 'jollies' at our expense.

They are PEACE OFFICERS in the western world. I am sorry to hear about this experience.

10. Louisville I assume?
That's the location in your profile at least. I don't know why the police there are edgy but would you by chance have a large number of NO refugees there?

12. I did see more cops out on the road than normal.
Every time I was out today, there they were. I've never seen that many here in B.C. Hmmm . . . maybe some memo came down or something . . .

13. Police violence/intimidation of the press - NOLA
"Georgiev says, “We came upon a body (while driving) apparently shot by the police. While I was still driving I took a few photos through the open window and I heard an officer yell, ‘Get that camera, now!’ About a half dozen cops started running toward the car. Since the car was still in motion, and I saw them drawing and raising their guns at us and afraid they would shoot us, I slammed on the brakes.

“Before I knew it, I was thrown out of the car, the camera ripped from my hand, the other camera taken from the car, and I was on the car with my legs spread, hands up, a gun pointed in my neck. I was unable to see what was going on with Gordon. I was screaming “We are press” and I saw things from my car thrown on the ground, and the car was being frantically searched by the police.”

Georgiev told News Photographer, “As soon as they confirmed that we were accredited press they mellowed down a bit and gave my cameras back, they threw Gordon’s notebook on the ground and ordered us to get lost. After quickly picking up our stuff and getting in the car we drove away, then I realized the CF memory card from my other camera was missing – but not the one with the picture of the dead body.”

The Times-Picayune’s online blog later quoted Russell’s description of the scene as being one that was “the result of gunfire between police and civilians that left one man dead in a pool of blood.” Russell wrote that he and Georgiev “retreated to my home where we hid, and plan to flee the city tonight.” Russell was quoted in the blog as telling the newspaper, “There is a totally different feeling here than there was yesterday. I’m scared. I’m not afraid to admit it. I’m getting out of here.”

“I was afraid that we were going to get shot by some nervous police officer,” Georgiev said. “And that night in front of Gordon’s house (in New Orleans), were were rounded up by police and handcuffed while trying to file pictures from our cars."

16. The term for those cops is 'PIGS'.

When they do things like this, they usually get away with it under the guise of the 'law'.

14. Didn't you know your local cops read DU? They know who you are!
Just kidding!

That would have freaked me out too! I can't say I've noticed any edgy cops here. My stepson and future daughter-in-law are both Illinois State Police officers and were just here on Sunday. Neither of them seemed on edge and didn't give a clue anything is wrong. PLUS, if something is going to happen, they would let us know for our safety AND our 'Special Agent' son would too. :) I'll let ya know if we get wind of anything. :hi:

Where do you live? What state?

Martial Law?:scared: Damn, I knew I should have bought me that gun. It's one of the things I really need to do!:scared:
