Bush's Speech Will Be a HORRENDOUS FLOP
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 07:02 PM by Beetwasher
Yeah, I know, surprise surprise. But I expect it to be one of his worst. Keep in mind, this is something he is against doing w/ all of his will AND they are doing it pretty much on the fly, this was something relatively unprepared for. This is not a product roll out that they foresaw, but it IS one they will try to take advantage of to push products.

It Will Be a HORRIBLE Speech, I Guarantee It. He will seem bored, disengaged and insincere because it's a speech about a subject he has absolutely NO interest in; helping poor, unfortunate people. It's not about going to war or killing or destroying, so he will have NO interest and it will be obvious. He's being FORCED to make this speech and it will show.

And as for the content, it's going to be disgraceful. We now have this article that gives us an idea:

http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=domesticNews&storyID=2005-09-14T230706Z_01_YUE483245_RTRIDST_0_USREPORT-KATRINA-BUSH-DC.XML&archived=False

Bush readying new initiatives for Katrina speech

--snip--

Bush believes the vision for rebuilding should be "locally inspired," but that the country as a whole needs to be committed to that longer-term effort, McClellan told reporters on Air Force One returning to Washington from New York, where the president attended the U.N. summit.

"There will be some new initiatives that he will talk about in the remarks as well," he said, but declined to provide details.

--snip--

"locally inspired"? IOW, New Orleans, you're on your own, suckers. He's going to essentially tell us that the Feds ain't gonna pony up much.

And these "new initiatives"? Can you say "Faith Based"? IOW, the only help NOLA will get is from Chimpy's religious huckster buddies; i.e. Pat Robertson.

He will also ask for MORE power and control be given to him and expect him to justify his failures because he didn't have these powers.

Oh, and expect him to mention 9/11 numerous times and, here's shocker, his plans for more tax cuts.

Expect lot's of phony references to god and god's will and for much of the speech to have a religious tone, even MORESO than he already does, if you can believe it. So much so it will want to make you vomit for days.

I dont' expect many to be won over or for it to do much of anything. Most people will probably not watch, including me.

3. All of his speeches sound the same
He says the same thing every time. Every time. EVERY F'ING TIME! I HATE HIS F'ING SPEECHES!!!! *calms down*

Seriously though, his speeches have sounded even worse this year than before. After 9/11, say what you will about him, he had a few speeches that worked well. He has nothing now.

23. More importantly, what's the 'play within the play' on this one??
These bastards always have an agenda that revolves around fucking more poor and middle class people and lining the pockets of the rich. And then after the performance, our lovely media will be the critics who will tell us "by God he did what he had to do...by God he connected to the American people...by God this should raise his approval numbers".........and they will ignore the rotten tomatoes dripping off his head.

of Ophelia (from Hamlet) deceased and "floating" in what seemed to be a lily pond. I wanted to save the image, but forgot to do that.

I've been using words and language in various jobs for more than fifty years. Thanks for the comment.

We might have some peach cobbler later.

That interests me far more than Drinky McDrunk-A-Lot's speech.

Even the bushites I know don't watch his speeches. The next day they're like "Oh yeah, I didn't know he was giving one." Shrug.

21. The Big Question:
will it be 1) Live, or will it be 2) rehearsed?

Believe me, it will make a big difference with this dolt. If it's live and unrehearsed, you can bet he will screw it up. He'll look lost, confused. He'll say -uh, -um, he'll backtrack, repeat himself, "Hurricane Kartrin- uh Kartrina will be a turning point for the American people. They will - uh stand up to this formid...formidab.....hefty...challenge". "The Americans will realize the connection between 9/11 and Kur-trina because I've hammered it into their skulls by now."

"The Americans people believe in Liberty and Justice for Most. Especially those who have been hurt down in Jacksonville. We will do our utomost for these peoples. No expense will be spared, no debit card will be denied this wonder ful folks". "I guarantee it, so help me Deficit".

"May God bless -uh...-eh...Texarkana".

Amen.

.................provide job training and housing for people who have to start over, according to one Republican official.

............ were discussing tax credits for businesses to stay in the devastated region, said the official, who was consulted but wanted to remain anonymous because Bush had yet to deliver the speech.

Bush planned to describe his understanding of the suffering brought on by the killer storm while charting a hopeful vision for the future.

Rather than speak before a live audience, Bush planned to stand alone and broadcast his message directly into the camera. The White House had yet to announce the site of the speech, which was to follow Bush's visit to Mississippi.

The format would be similar to the somber speech he gave in front of the Statue of Liberty three years ago on the first anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

He could do that from anywhere in the world.

I he's going to "stand alone and broadcast his message directly into the camera" then I bet it will be taped in advance, so they can have a do-over if he's even more inarticulate and idiotic than usual.

And maybe they don't have time to put together a Potemkin audience and bus 'em in from far away (cuz you can be damn sure that he doesn't have a lot of fans at this point in LA.)

37. on our tax dollars, too
There's no reason, other than the supposed dramatic impact, for him to give this speech in Louisiana. He could easily give it from the White House, but noooooo, we'll foot the bill for AF1 and his huge entourage to jet down south for this power grabbing, corporate agenda-pushing, screw-the-workers speech.

For a Republican, he sure is free with our money.
