"Will the President's polls go up?"
Seems to be the underlying question on all the cable networks. As they advertise for Bush's address to the nation tonight, the underlying point seems to be whether or not his polls go up. It's an interesting diversion but it should not be about Bush's polls. It's a trivial matter.

With issues about life and death and families split far and wide and still counting the dead, the last thing that should be on anyone's mind is whether or or not George Bush goes up in the polls. Who gives a big shit? Screw his polls! We got more important matters to be concerned about.

2. "When will we vote him off of the island?" would be a better question.

3. And What Will They Say If The Numbers Go Down?
Here's the thing; most people, once they know they have been lied to, start to really resent hearing the voice of the person who lied to them. The more the person who lied to them talks the more they are resented by the listener. Works that way everywhere. He and Karl may expect a jump tonight, I expect his numbers to tank even deeper.

6. you have a point
Remember around the summer of 1992 when Poppy Bush finally saw the writing on the wall and tried to react? The public had already completely lost faith in him and everything he pulled looked like it was out of desperation and didn't work. Is Bush finally at this point?

12. I think you're pretty much right.

Especially in Fundieworld, any undeniable crack in the armor of perfection is seen as a fatal flaw. The only way back to esteem in their eyes is through massive, public apologies, tears, whining & other massive displays of contrition. I doubt George is capable of those things, and even if he were, the spectacle will turn him into a laughing stock for the reality-based segment of the population.

4. Let's hope that soon that'll be the only direction available.
As long as more than 5% 'approve' we're in a sick nation.

8. Read: We are about to present a bunch of fixed polls
His numbers are going to magically rebound. Just hide and watch. I am suprised they presented them to the public as low as they are. He could eat a litter of kittens on live TV and they would gush at what a stud he looked like, with their blood on his blue work shirt.

9. You are so right-on
he can do no wrong and pay for it.... spin and lies put him right back on top every time... ever who wrote his speech for tonight will be brilliant... Karl will prevail at all costs because lies are okay for this "christian" (small c intended) resident.

13. Ah, the heady joy of having the media in your pocket
Also, think of the heady joy the Pukes must feel at having a state run media that most Americans think is somehow "free."

10. They will go up a tad
but nothing substantial. Not a political scientist, but an observer. He's done for. He'll limp to the end.

11. I'd like to see him limp out in his perp walk...
straight to prison with all his cronies chained behind...

If there were justice in this country, that is exactly what would happen.

14. Of course they will...they're fake anyway.
Like Bush struggling against his nature to force out an acceptance of responsibility, Rove can't bear to actually release the real numbers, the ones that show only Bush's 22% base of nut-bags supporting him, because it would encourage piling on. That is why the fake numbers never move too far from 40%. Anything less, hell even that 40%, is largely considered poison for any president. So anyway, they'll come out with the new fake numbers right after the big speech, showing a 10 point bump, back up the lowly 50% which BushCo somehow considers strong enough to call a mandate.

22. Can they go down?
41% is pretty damned low in this day and age especially with his "Base". If they haven't jumped ship yet I can't see them doing it now...unless he really did screw up THAT bad in their eyes.
