I Pledge NOTHING to the Flag, OR the United States of America
and nothing to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under Canada, with liberty and justice for the wealthy and well connected white folks.

3. I love America.
After seeing all the volunteers helping take in and feed/clothe evacuees and after seeing volunteer search-and-rescue teams and doctors pouring into New Orleans...how could you not love this country?

8. You're way to busy looking at the good stuff...
It's that whole half-empty/half-full thing. When are you going to join everyone else on the half empty side of the aisle? :sarcasm:

And against the government who against it stand, one nation, under law, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

5. pledge allegiance to the democracy of the people of america, and
and to our government so long as it stands for liberty and justice here and abroad, and when it does not, I will do all I can to change it.

I will not blindly support a government because it has power over me or a people because I was born in the middle of them.

6. I don't pledge ever to a symbolic piece of cloth
I love my country, and I like the flag, but I don't need to pledge to a flag to prove it. I don't like the idea of loyalty oaths in general. People lie and give lip service to stuff like that every day, and it doesn't mean a damn thing.

7. Just to tweak mopaul...
Those who demand a pledge of allegience in public places tend not to believe in the principles for which this nation stands, just as those who demand prayer in public places tend to have a lesser faith in God.

From Matthew:

6:5 "Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

6:6 But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

6:7 When you pray, do not babble repetitiously like the Gentiles, because they think that by their many words they will be heard.

6:8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

I have little patience for the false patriotism and the false Christianity of hypocrites. We are all suffering in the hell they have made.

9. "The Flag is a SYMBOL..."
"...and I leave symbols for the 'symbol-minded.'"

George Carlin

I yearn for the World Government to come, the "Tabla Rasa" and the "Level Playing Field." Our domination of the world is a classic example of Unstable Dynamic Equilibrium, and the longer it's propped up, the louder the crash.

10.  The Pledge of Allegiance is the modern version of "Yes, Massa".
