Subject: Dateline NBC

Dateline NBC has done a number of special segments about Hurricane Katrina. Last Friday they ran a one-hour special about what went wrong with the rescue efforts.

My jaw dropped when I heard this from Sheriff Pohlman of St. Bernard Parish:

Stone Phillips: That wasn’t true everywhere. The cavalry did arrive in St. Bernard Parish, but it wasn’t the U.S. Cavalry, according to the sheriff there.

Pohlman: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police sent a large contingent.

As it turns out, the Canadians Pohlman met weren't the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. They were actually a search and rescue team that had traveled all the way from Vancouver, British Columbia, some 2,800 miles away, and they got there first.

Pohlman: I don't know how they got here. It may have been on their horses, but they got here.

Link to the entire interview (somewhat lengthy, but worth the read) is:

6. I don't like eggs. Does that disqualify me from Canada?
:scared:

I score high on most other sections of the Canadian Aptitude Test (TM): beer, hockey, humour, pancakes, donuts -- just not eggs. What do I do?

7. There's a form you can fill out
But it takes about a year to get a reply. That's fast by GOC standards.

3. For as much as this administration
has kicked the Canadians around the last five years, they ALWAYS come through. And they do it without endless talk about how great they are, how big their hearts are, how they're "luvin' a neighbor...", how they love freedom - you know, the same Hallmark card phrases the Chimp uses for US humanitarian efforts.
I love Canadians!
