CNN says tonight Bush must get back his "bull-horn moment."
CNN keeps saying tonight Bush will be trying for that "bull-horn moment" as if that was the moment that launched him on his leadership path (you should pardon the expression:puke:). They act like that's all he has to do again to win back the people...In my opinion, all that was, was a "bull-horn moment".....From then on he used every photo-op to say something macho, which was supposed to indicate that he was really taking charge and protecting America from all those "terrists"....No where was he put on the spot to make decisions, so he was able to bluff his way through...With Katrina he had to be on top of things and knowledgable about what needed doing....Ergo he was a complete flop....He was revealed for the empty suit he really is....And then to not go directly back to Washington when the hurricane hit...well, that just showed his complete cluelessness.

40. Exactly, Fooj...
You took the words right out of my mouth. There's nothing ** can do at this late date to undo the images of him eating cake, playing guitar, and gazing detached out of the window of Air Force One. He's toast. I just wish he had the courtesy and grace to step aside, come clean, and let President Gore or President Kerry take over.

I don't think those hastily organized emergency PR speeches are working anymore.

10. Probably cheerleading was the best time of his life....
His connections got him into the best schools & gave him companies to destroy.

But he probably earned the cheerleading spot on his own. It's been all downhill since then.

35. They're trying to drum up interest in this speech.
It's their job to make you want to watch.

More viewers = more ad dollars.

It's the BOTTOM LINE. No more, no less.

9. Yeah but trying to get back "bull horn moment" when everyone knows
you're desperately trying to get back your bullhorn moment does not work. Just like visiting NOLA way after the fact is like buying your wife flowers after you've already cheated on her. His goose is cooked.
Further indications -- my friends's right wing Cubvan mom mutteringly curses every time she hears the words bush or halliburton....

12. That's ALL he's been doing for five years now. Pretending he's some
bullhorn-carrying John Wayne character. His failure and falling numbers isn't because he's not projecting the right image, it's because people are finally seeing that he can't do a damn thing right, no matter what image someone creates for him.

The real purpose behind CNN's comment, though, is to set Bush up for a comeback. After the speech, no matter what they have him say, CNN will start pimping for him again, and assuring everyone that Bush nailed it and is again our fearless leader.

Whether people buy it this time or finally realize the media has been selling them a bill of goods is hard to say. Reagan had lower numbers, and they revived that stupid, hate-filled monster's image. They'll do the same thing for Son of Reagan if they can.

14. Who on CNN says this? Blitzer?
What a stupid thing to say. It's not for CNN anchors to say what the people they cover "must" or "must not" do.

I have very little respect for the Bushists but they would be making very, very clear what utter incompetents they were if they thought tonight was all about getting a bull-horn moment. I can't believe even they are that stupid.

30. Rather than see it as CNN trying to spin it per se
I sometimes have to give the benefit of the doubt to these reporters who cover the whitehouse, they all develop that inside-baseball mentality. They are talking with the advisors on background and absolutely steeped in the WH spin and cant help but pick up on the WH memes. Obviously the proper thing to do is to maintain some distance and talk to the president's critics and to not treat the presidency as some cult of the emperor. But the easier thing to do is to talk like those whom you cover, and quote them.

I see cnn grabbing on to the karl's merry go round. ie. CNN is just along for the ride, spinning as they must to maintain access. If they get off the ride they fear losing access, and or tarnishing their rep.

19. Tweety's always looking for something "Big"..he probably started it.
He must have father figure problems since he's always looking for manley men, men who have big feet to plant on the ground (his comment about Cheney coming to NO). Chris loves powerful men...he looks up to them.

And, he is a mouthpiece for GE. His home on Nantucket is near Jack Welch's. NBC has paid him for his low ratings...because he's a "suck up." :-(

16. Why do think that was impressive?
I put it in the same category as all the other bullshit moments of this administration. The plastic turkey moment, the mission accomplished moment, the fake food distribution moment etc.

The so-called 'bullhorn' moment simply reminded me that he let 9/11 happen on his watch, ignored 52 warnings of an attack, and as seems to be a pattern now with him, was on vacation while his country was in danger.

He had his 'bullhorn' moment ~ and I'd like to know why CNN is not airing 24/7, as they did the Dean Scream? All I'll ever remember from this disaster is Bush strumming the guitar and eating cake while NO drowned!! That was his moment. Why are they trying to change it?

Do they not realize that no PR campaign in the world can bring back all those dead people, or erase the memory of how long it took him to get his act together, or the gang of incompetent, political cronies he put in charge of US security?

These people make me sick! They had a few moments last week, as they watched the bodies of US citizens floating in water on the flooded streets of a US city, when they nearly became journalists again, and no doubt their ratings went up as people finally got some truth.

Time to tune them out again. To promote this dangerous man is tantamount to treason, imo.

people suffering and dying in the heat, no food, no water, no help, no hope. It breaks me every time.....no g.d. phony photo op is going to minimize that - not now, not ever. It's not just the reponse was inadequate - he very, very much did not care; HE DID NOT CARE.

18. Agreed
Bush doesn't even know how to PRETEND to be compassionate. His ratings were tanking before the hurricane, but this lack of response has hurt him even more. You have to admit, they did it to themselves.

Karl must have been VERY distracted before the hurricane. A TIMELY cheap photo-op response could have at LEAST been spun as action.....

They're even inept at being inept

in the opposite direction of New Orleans. That's what he did on 9/11 as well. He ran away. For pete's sake, Clinton went to ground zero before Herr Bush did.
