6. I agree the Bush era is over
It would have fizzled out in about a year anyway (as soon as candidates started making noise) but Katrina blew it out like a candle on a cake.

17. I don't think so and here's why..
I am a teacher. I teach with a lot of bright people with bigtime degrees and a lot of life experience. Most of these folks are very even folks. They have raised families successfully (most of us are geezers) and saved money and worked hard. I can sit and talk intelligently about the latest books (not talking romance novels, but decent reading) and movies, and life in general. Not salivating knuckle draggers. A couple of SUV's, but faithful recyclers and generally concerned about green issues. And as many teachers tend to me (like me) they are optimists. We have to be; we surround ourselves with kids. They look for the best.

Five of these folks were gung-ho Bushies. Not nazis, fascists or even Bible thumpers. Two are agnostic, one is Jewish, one Catholic and one Methodist. They loved GB because they thought he was so "all-American" and he "led us through the night." (Please do not throw up on my post) They LOVED this guy...and his wife, father, mother. (They wouldn't know Karl Rove if they woke up in bed next to him) These are people who want to believe that the American way is red, white, blue, fairness, the Bill of Rights, etc. And anybody who points out differently is just cranky. Or needs a hug. Or got spanked too much. Or worries too much. I know many of you are saying "well, then they ARE stupid" but they really aren't. They just don't choose to pay much attention to politcs.

I have long given up asking these wonderful, wonderful colleagues, the best teachers in the business, any political opinions. (especially as my blood pressure issues have increased.)

But suddenly THEY ARE ASKING ME! They are asking me about the elections in Ohio. What do I think? What do I think about torture? How about Iraq? What do I think about Iraq? And I hear them talking to each other at lunch. I hear ".....should never have happened... third world country...did you see on CNN that babies died..."

This is a huge awakening for these folks. They are compassionate people. They have seen countrymen die in want and neglect (and not far from here, either) and they know SOMETHING IS WRONG. A speech is not going to close that door.

10. Sylvester the Cat needs to have a bullhorn moment
and finally swallow the Tweety Turd and end this grostesque display of whoredom that has disgraced our television screens long enough.

16. "president gains politically from rebuiding the Gulf area" says Tweety.
He is probably right--even if our piggy back is broke.

18. He's seen how MSRNC has become more rightwing and he's gung-ho
with the program. I swear, he's been more of a * apologist lately than even some on Faux. Disgusting from a guy who used to work for Tip O'Neill.
