1. Sounds like pressure on CITIES to be prepared for disaster
CITIES need to have evacuation plans, provisions, etc. etc. Sounds like he's punting responsibility for any kind of national disaster response down to cities and states.

Asshole.

Cities & states will be screaming bloody murder tomorrow. They barely have money to pay for everything else Feds pile on 'em -- Homeland security, no child left behind, etc.

10. I think it's time the states started keeping the federal taxes
Edited on Thu Sep-15-05 05:06 PM by Cleita
collected under FIT, to pay for all these additional burdens that the federal government doesn't pay for anymore.(Let FICA through though as it is needed for the Social Security and Medicare programs.) Why should we keep letting them line their pockets with taxpayer's money that needs to pay for the needs of the people?

Orrrr, since the richest 1% are getting all the tax breaks, start taxing them at the state or even the city level, on income, property and inheritance.

17. If I abstain from the speech I can save brain cells in two ways
I won't have to drink as much and won't have to hear the language garbled.
I sure as heck don't want bush reforming FEMA and Homeland blah, blah anymore.
Ah that reminded me of a song by Queen -Radio Gaga . I think I'll go dig out Queens greatest hits for tonight.

Being the good dem that I am, I'll probably have to take a peek at the knuckster. I can usually get his drift in about 2 seconds and only can watch him grind his teeth so long as well.

Edited on Thu Sep-15-05 05:18 PM by DoYouEverWonder
and it worked better then anyone expected.

We don't need no more stinkin BushCo plans. We just need them all to shut the fuck up and go on a permanent vacation. I'm sick and tired of Bush the Slacker telling everyone else what to do.

18. Sounds like a call for the DU Activists to begin writing LTTE's
Asking that very thing. Just what HAVE they been doing all this time and with all that money? Reminding them that NONE of us feel any safer and we are tired of the Boy Who Cries Wolf act. The Wolf came and ate us all. The End.

14. Don't let them do Katrina the same way they did 911
Katrina should be the Liberals rallying cry not the neocons. We should be screaming for a minimum wage increase and healthcare for all. And those should just be the beginning of our demands. Please don't the criminals have their way with the aftermath of Katrina.

20. So, he wants to see his approval ratings dip even lower?
Hasn't he sank in the polls each time he's made an official speech for the past year? Hasn't the theme of each of those speeches been TERRA!™ You'd think they'd try something new this time if they wanted to perk up his sagging numbers.

Proof that Karl isn't a genius. He doesn't get it that people don't jump anymore when he goes 'boo'. :eyes:

Can you imagine what the folks in the French Quarter would do if they were allowed within range of the Shrub?

He's speaking from the French Quarter-wonder if he's visited the bar that never closes to buck up his courage.....

25. Abrams on MSNBC hit a few quotes, too
Some kind of weaselly language about taking responsibility. Then Abrams interviewed Joe Scarface to ask if was good enough. Joe said no, everyone -- Mayor, Governor, and President needs to say straight out that they screwed up and what they will do to correct it. He called the Mayor "overwhelmed" and the Governor "clueless." I can't remember the exact words he used about the federal response but he wasn't any more positive about that than he was the local and state response. Joe got in a crack about weak apologies sounding like Bill Clinton in the 90's. Abrams called Joe an equal opportunity insulter.

29. He is going to talk about preparedness in case of a terror attack, nuclear
attack and then last, natural disaster.

They also mentioned how he will come up with plans for rebuilding. I think someone said in a DU post that Turd Blossom will handle that. That's once again having the wolf protect the hen house.....

It now seems a race to see who can accept the most blame instead of avoiding it. I'm sure shrub will let her go ahead and take the most blame.
