3. No. They only have hope left.
They want to believe what he said. When they find out that it was all lies, they will be angry again.

8. You are talking about the uneducated underbelly of the poverty...
system in New Orleans.

They were repeating what they heard. Sadly.

11. that lady said "They didn't appropriate the federal money"
and she didn't recognize the irony of using the word "federal" since it's the Army of Corps Engineers that's using the money, not the state or the local government.

7. They were about seven or eight African-Americans from
inside the Astrodome and they brought them out to the parking lot to watch the speech.

They were hardly negative at all.

Just tells me ABC had a VERY hard time finding anyone in the Astrodome who was willing to watch the speech, much less refrain from being negative.

12. They were quarantined and carefully screened.
This shouldn't surprise any of us.
And there were only 7 of them???? Where were the rest of the people?

And one woman had actually evacuated BEFORE the storm hit.

These were bought and paid for "survivors".

Dean Reynolds, the interviewer even said "Good!" after one woman wouldn't place any blame on The Walking Catastrophe Called Bush.

13. Yep, that was such a fucking obvious set up even my husband,
who doesn't normally comment on this stuff, walked out from the office, where he was watching it, laughing and saying "so that's all they could find in the Astrodome who wouldn't cuss bush out, huh?"

17. I noticed as well.
Man, they looked downright disgusted when the camera panned them. Several times Bush was giving one of those stupid grins and they panned the room and they just looked pissed.

24. NBC's become our crappy TV network of choice of late.
They've shown some balls in all this. (Maybe it's just because of Brian Williams' appearance on the Daily Show.)

19. So now the evacuees are nice people
So the evacuees are nice people now? All of a sudden they went from ungrateful, freeloaders to nice down and out people. Fuck Bush and the right wing. The accuse the left of using the race card and these bastards are the first ones to use it. George Bush doesn't care he knows his base hates black people. I want to know why Bush is two timing his base?If he really wanted to be honest he would pick a nice thread from freewepublic and read that for his speech. We know what is going on. Contrary to popular belief we are not stupid.

21. Didn't watch it - But, Some evacuees skeptical after Bush speech
article this morning - Montgomery Advertiser - seemed like an appropriate place to post this:

Andrew Rhodes, an evacuee from New Orleans, listened to President Bush's pledge to help Hurricane Katrina victims rebuild their lives during his address Thursday night, but he and his family are skeptical.

Rhodes and his 11 relatives have been in Montgomery for 19 days since fleeing from their St. Bernard Parish, La., home. They are living at the Days Inn hotel on Zelda Road, courtesy of the American Red Cross, until Monday.

Rhodes, 49, his mother, his brother and a cousin listened to the president from their room as he spoke from Jackson Square in the French Quarter.

"Those ain't nothing but words," said Herbert Major, Rhode's brother, in response to Bush's statement about helping victims rebuild. "We were told that we were going to have housing and now we have to find an apartment that we can't afford because many of us are unemployed."<

>"I think it's lip service," he said. "I believe he is doing this because his approval rating is so low. He sounds like a Louisiana politician."<

25. That was the most disgusting piece of interviewing I've ever seen
I had to turn it off after the second interview because it was so blantantly and badly contrived. Even my freeper husband was taken back by the display. Since we've both been volunteering at the astrodome, we both know that those people talking weren't representative of what the people really think.
