60. I hate the phrasing of the poll, "missteps" 1000's are dead. MISTAKES |
|
is not a grave enough word to describe what this monster has done.
I think that CLUSTERFUCK is the best word to use here.
Either way ha ha ha America has finally woken up!
Once you hate the corrupt monsters in charge their is no going back.
I can't wait until I get my black, "I hated Bush before it was cool." T Shirt.

Kick.
I watched some of the MSNBC coverage. David Gregory was quoted as referring to "contrition." I watched the speech. What contrition? Did I miss something? I didn't hear any contrition. Not a bit of it. Lots of rhapsodizing. But no contrition. Fine, some ideas he put forth. Nothing said about how it's going to be paid for - which could have taken a MAJOR edge off his difficulties. What if he'd said he was going to raise taxes to cover this, so that in this one way ALL America could chip into the underwriting of the rebuilding? What if he'd said he'd learned, the hard way, that our troops in Iraq would be better serving Homeland Security if they were HERE IN THE HOMELAND, along with the money being wasted keeping them so far away, at a useless war? What if he'd talked about people who can most easily afford it - the rich and big corporations - anyone who's benefited from his pennypinching and tax cuts - that it's time for THEM to shoulder a little more of the burden to help those who are entitled to share the American dream, since they more than anyone else know and enjoy the fruits of the American dream? Time to stretch out a hand and grab another hand and lift it up. You know, that kind of thing. And what if he'd said we're gonna roll back some of those tax cuts, and while we're at it, it's not time just now to look at getting rid of the inheritance tax. That can wait. This is MUCH more important and we need the money. Besides, those who'd benefit from it are by-and-large already benefiting from other tax cuts. The needy need the breaks far more. What if he'd said that? And personal responsibility. ONE LINE about him taking responsibility. ONE LINE. And he bounced off that one and off to the next thing like a rubber bouncy ball. Probably doesn't want to risk any of that compassion and generosity stuff to stick to him too much.
I was encouraged to hear the dose of reality from Rita Cosby who was standing with a bunch of displaced workers and she said there was quite a bit of skepticism - "nice words" but they were gonna wait and see if there was any action. Not a total whitewash. At least not yet. Brian Williams also made a brief mention of skepticism that he'd heard from people there in his specific area with whom he watched the speech.
Skepticism - yeah - I'd say a LOT of skepticism. And all well-placed and easily-justified.
What he extolled - this big federal program effort - is SO against everything he and his other grover norquist-type pals believe in, it's hard to see how he can be convinced to stay with it, or even stay halfway interested in it.
