So, we are a tyranny of the minority in this country |

Lately I have realized:
Even though Clinton had close to a 70+% approval rating at the time of his impeachment (over consensual adult sex) he was still brought up for impeachment.
Even though Bush has close to a 60% disapproval rating, he seems immune from impeachment (even though incompetent, lies, DSm, Plamegate, Katrina etc.)
The Baathists (Bushists) reign.

3. Thanks, I thought so but wasn't sure and edited my post. |

Which brings me back to the point that 30% is calling the shots for the 70% rest of us. I'm sick of it. These are the power elites who treat the government like it's some sort of Amway MLM scheme.

7. Maybe we should go to a parliamentary system |
|
where a vote of no confidence can be called at any time.

8. I wish. Wouldn't we easily have a vote of no confidence right this minute |
|
And then, don't they usually call a special election which either endorses or removes the powers that be? I would give anything to have that ability in our country. It HAS to make the government more responsive to the people.
I also wish the Dems would spend time watching instructional videos about how to be an opposition party.
Couldn't they hire Galloway for personal coaching sessions?

2. I think conservatism is more appealing than DUers will know |

I have had too many conversations with people who have bought the malicious messaging and think that their crusade is guns, or God, or tax cuts

4. Disregard popularity for a moment. The charges against Clinton |
|
were ludicrous. The Bush Administration's transgressions are countless and profound- everything from lying us into an invasion to helping energy companies bilk California out of billions of dollars.

5. I agree with you completely but my point is that the Congress |
|
does not reflect the majority opinion of the American people.
Our "representational" government only represents the 30% who have bought access, either through lobbies or their "You're Just Like Me- white, rich, connected, corporate, religious/fundamentalist-Club

6. But Congress (or at least the House) |
|
is elected every two years, so it is supposed to be the most representative part of our government.
