Wazzat * or LBJ making that speech?
"As all of us saw on television, there is also some deep, persistent poverty in this region as well. And that poverty has roots in a history of racial discrimination, which cut off generations from the opportunity of America. We have a duty to confront this poverty with bold action."

Holy shit, freepers must be doing backflips!

1. Bush is desperate as hell to have said that.
Cheap points that he won't get.

3. Sounds like a good argument for finally paying reparations to me!
Hey, they say only Nixon could go to China...who knew?

Okay. I know he didn't mean it. Just humoring him for a moment.

4. He's right, though. It was as plain as the nose on your face.
Bush was right, for once. Even Nixon did things right from time to time, regardless of serious character flaws. Civil Rights legislation, the EPA, and so on.....

Nixon had to deal with a Democratic Congress. Bush has his boys in place, but he still came out and said those things. Talk is cheap, and ruthless moneychangers will try to take the money, but I wish he could follow through on the words.
