1. I'm glad he's there - I trust him
even when I don't want to hear what he says. I have great respect for that guy after reading his book.

2. There are two guests. Richard Clarke and Jerry H something..
Saing that it has always been the assumption that the Fed response should immediately take control is there is a calamity or majoir disaster. They didn't do that this time!

Richard said that was always the assumption during all the 3 presidents he worked for.

3. the guy who wrote the "anonymous book" is not a fan
it is so difficult deciding who is telling the truth.

4. yep...he HATES Clarke...I saw an interview with Scheuer, the CIA
guy about whom you speak

he blames Clarke, I think, for getting him shunted off to the side for being "obsessed" with binLaden

that's how the interviewer put it, and Scheuer was miffed that he put it that way:

"Some people might call it doing your job"

powerful stuff

but, also, Scheuer thinks that William Colby was the last decent CIA chief we've had. !!!!!!!

so let's keep things in perspective

5. I agree with Clarke though, when he said the Feds have to assume
total control when a calamity occurs because the local Gov't simply can't handle it!

6. Exactly. It's like blaming the victim.
Peace.

8. I thought he was exhonerating the victims, i.e. the St. and local
officials that the pubs and admin have been so quick to lay the blame on.

Clarke said they (troops) could evacuate and assist and SHOULD HAVE without running law enforcement. I agree with him.

7. He was very careful to explain they did not have to violate Posse
Comitatus, in other words, not law enforcement, assistance, organization and evacuation ONLLY. I thought he did well and brought up an important and overlooked point.

10. Absolutely right, Veganistan!
...And the Bushies are working the spin to get MORE power...Senator Vinter or Vintner or whatever the hell he is, Repuke for Louisiana, was talking about how wonderful it was when "the military" came in...hinting broadly that Governor Blanco was responsible for the delay. Um...since she never did "sign over authority" to Bush....and the 82nd Airborne came in anyway...why the hell couldn't they hav gotten there 3 days sooner? Just asking.
I love Richard Clarke.
